Comparative safety of conjugated estrogens/bazedoxifene versus estrogen/progestin combination hormone therapy among women in the United States: a multidatabase cohort study.

Objective: To assess the risk of select safety outcomes including endometrial cancer, endometrial hyperplasia, and breast cancer among women using conjugated estrogens/bazedoxifene (CE/BZA) as compared with estrogen/progestin combination hormone therapy (EP).

Methods: We conducted a new-user cohort study in five US healthcare claims databases representing more than 92 million women. We included CE/BZA or EP new users from May 1, 2014, to August 30, 2019.

Training Academic and Community Investigator Teams for Community-Engaged Research: Program Development, Implementation, Evaluation and Replication.

Background: Community-engaged research (CEnR) is an approach to conducting research that actively involves both academic and community partners. Yet many academic researchers have limited knowledge of emerging science and processes for effectively engaging communities and community members are often subjects of research with limited knowledge and participation in the development and implementation of research.

Objectives: The purpose of this article is to explore two CEnR research training programs, both funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH), for the explicit purpose of facilitating translational science.

Ketogenic Diet for the Treatment and Prevention of Dementia: A Review.

Dementia (major neurocognitive disorder) is an increasingly common syndrome with a significant burden on patients, caregivers, the health-care system, and the society. The prevalence of dementia will certainly continue to grow as the US population ages. Current treatments for dementia, though, are limited.

Telephone-Based Shared Decision-making for Lung Cancer Screening in Primary Care.

The national rate of  lung cancer screening, approximately 3-5%, is too low and strategies which include shared decision-making and increase screening are needed. A feasibility study in one large primary care practice of telephone-based delivery of decision support via an online tool, the Decision Counseling Program© (DCP) was administered to patients eligible for lung cancer screening according to USPSTF screening guidelines. We collected data on demographics, decisional conflict, and conducted chart audits to ascertain screening.

Addressing the Sexual Health of Delaware Teens through Evidence-based and Promising Education.

Objective: Readers will be able to identify the impact of the Alliance for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (AAPP) in improving knowledge and attitudes regarding risky sexual health behaviors.

Methods: Three AAPP, (), () and (), are assessed using 3 similar pre- and post-surveys which are designed specifically for these curricula. These surveys measure changes in knowledge and attitudes toward sexual health and risky behaviors at baseline and completion of the course.
