Background: Profound variations in facial nerve branching, combined with the severe impact of facial palsy on the patient's quality of life, make surgery in this region challenging. Recent advancements in ultrasound (US) technology, including the improved visualization of small structures, have led to a sharp increase in its medical indications in various medical disciplines. We aimed to prove the feasibility of using ultra-high-frequency (UHF) US to visualize the facial nerve and to guide surgeons during surgery on and around the facial nerve.

This study has analyzed how exactly laser Doppler imaging measurements can be useful in the early therapeutic decision making for patients with clinically indeterminate depth burns.
Material And Methods: An extensive survey, by questionnaire and in-depth interviews, was conducted among 51 burn centers worldwide to gain insight on the practical use of laser Doppler imaging.
Background: Autologous facial fat grafting has gained popularity in recent years and is considered to be safe. This paper presents the case of a patient who died due to massive cerebral microfat embolism after facial fat grafting.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to raise awareness and provide more evidence on the prevention and treatment of this potentially lethal complication of facial fat grafting.

Background: Lymphedema is defined as a chronic condition, caused by lymphostasis. A major part in the Western world consists of iatrogenic lymphedema caused by surgery to the lymph nodes of the axilla or groin. Prophylactic lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA) could be beneficial in the prevention of lymphedema of the extremities.

The aims of Part I of this survey study are: to identify the most important barriers for the use of LDI and to provide useful recommendations for efficient implementation in routine burn care. The actual interpretation and use of LDI measurements is discussed in the Enigma Part II article.

Repair of a bilateral cleft lip and nose deformity remains a challenge. The nose remains the main persisting stigma for patients, deserving an equal amount of attention as the lip during the repair. We share 3 technical principles to help achieve the optimal nasolabial result and minimize cleft nose deformity after bilateral cleft lip repair.
