Purpose Of The Review: Despite advances in surgical procedures, cancer recurrence still affects a substantial proportion of patients for whom surgery is considered a curative therapy. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of RIOT, addressing its definition, influencing factors, and clinical implications.

Findings: RIOT can be defined as a continuous variable as the time from surgery to initiation of adjuvant therapies or categorically as whether patients can successfully receive adjuvant therapies or not.

Intraoperative methadone administration for total mastectomy: A single center retrospective study.

Background: Breast cancer is the most frequent type of cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women. Mastectomies remain a key component of the treatment of non-metastatic breast cancer, and strategies to treat acute postoperative pain, a complication affecting nearly all patients undergoing surgery, continues to be an important clinical challenge. This study aimed to determine the impact of intraoperative methadone administration compared to conventional short-acting opioids on pain-related perioperative outcomes in women undergoing a mastectomy.

Portal vein arterialization in 25 liver transplant recipients: A Latin American single-center experience.

Background: Portal vein arterialization (PVA) has been used in liver transplantation (LT) to maximize oxygen delivery when arterial circulation is compromised or has been used as an alternative reperfusion technique for complex portal vein thrombosis (PVT). The effect of PVA on portal perfusion and primary graft dysfunction (PGD) has not been assessed.

Aim: To examine the outcomes of patients who required PVA in correlation with their LT procedure.

Case Report: Duodenal Papillary Stenosis Secondary to Strongyloides stercoralis Infection in a Non-Immunocompromised Host.

Strongyloides stercoralis infection is a common infection in tropical and subtropical regions and is considered one of the "neglected tropical diseases." Owing to its life cycle, this infection can remain undetectable for years, preventing an early diagnosis and prompt treatment. We report the case of a 65-year-old woman who presented to us with a history of nausea, abdominal pain, bloating, and weight loss and, after initial radiologic and laboratory workup, was diagnosed with a periampullary mass with no secondary spread.
