Replicating the intricate architecture of the extracellular matrix (ECM) is an actual challenge in the field of bone tissue engineering. In the present research study, calcium alginate/cellulose nanofibrils-based 3D printed scaffolds, double-reinforced with chitosan/polyethylene oxide electrospun nanofibers (NFs) and graphene oxide (GO) were prepared using the 3D printing technique. The porous matrix was provided by the calcium alginate, while the anisotropy degree and mechanical properties were ensured by the addition of fillers with different sizes and shapes (CNFs, NFs, GO), similar to the components naturally found in bone ECM.

Subcyclo laser procedure results in patients with glaucoma.

To analyse the results of subCyclo (subliminal transscleral cyclophotocoagulation) laser procedure for patients with glaucoma. The study included 50 eyes of 32 patients diagnosed with various subtypes of glaucoma for which we performed subliminal transscleral cyclophotocoagulation under retrobulbar anesthesia. After the procedure, all patients were advised to continue their antiglaucoma medication until further notice and we added a topical steroid for 2 weeks.

Background: An improvement in life expectancy in patients suffering from adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) has corresponded with a rise in heart failure incidence within this group. An area that has not been addressed in ACHD heart failure guidelines has been the use of combined inhibition of angiotensin receptor-neprolysin pathways. This case series sought to demonstrate tolerability and 6-month outcome measures of sacubitril/valsartan use in ACHD patients with a severely impaired systemic ventricle.

Background: Transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation (TPVI) with the Melody® transcatheter pulmonary valve (TPV) has demonstrated good haemodynamic and clinical outcomes in the treatment of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) conduit dysfunction in patients with repaired congenital heart disease CHD. We present the first Australian single centre experience of patients treated with Melody TPV.

Method: A prospective, observational registry was developed to monitor clinical and haemodynamic outcomes in patients with RVOT dysfunction treated with the Melody TPV (Medtronic Inc, Minneapolis, United States).

Obstacles to inferring species trees from whole genome data sets range from algorithmic and data management challenges to the wholesale discordance in evolutionary history found in different parts of a genome. Recent work that builds trees directly from genomes by parsing them into sets of small $k$-mer strings holds promise to streamline and simplify these efforts, but existing approaches do not account well for gene tree discordance. We describe a "seed and extend" protocol that finds nearly exact matching sets of orthologous $k$-mers and extends them to construct data sets that can properly account for genomic heterogeneity.

Rationale: :In its most severe form, developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is one of the most common congenital malformations. Uncorrected developmental dysplasia of the hip is associated with long-term morbidity such as gait abnormalities, chronic pain, and degenerative arthritis.

Aims: (1) to identify the risks and predisposing factors involved in DDH (2) to define the incidence of the disease locally; (3) to emphasize the importance of ultrasonography in early diagnosis of DDH.

Refractive results with the use of AT.Lisa intraocular lens (2008-2015).

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the refractive results on a large cohort of patients who were implanted spherical or toric multifocal IOL's for cataract surgery or for refractive purpose. Preoperative refractive investigations included auto refractometer topography, pentacam, contact and noncontact biometry and many non-refractive investigations. The target in multifocal IOL usage was emmetropia and it was achieved in most cases.

REFRACTIVE SURGERY FOR HIGH AMETROPIES, A FEW CONCLUSIONS.

This paper presents a few clinical cases of patients with high ametropies and/or anisometropia, who underwent one or two surgical procedures in our clinic, in order to obtain independence of glasses or contact lenses. Twenty cases of high ametropies were included in our study, with or without astigmatism, with transparent lenses, who presented in our clinic for surgical treatment to correct their refractive errors. Postoperatively, we analyzed the results and took decisions for each case in particular; sometimes a second surgical procedure was needed.
