Bio-nanotechnology offers eco-friendly processes for the synthesis of stable nanoparticles (NPs). We hypothesized that microorganisms isolated from the root nodules of leguminous plants would biosynthesize silver (Ag) bio-nanoparticles. Clover root nodules enriched with nutrient broth (NB) produced four distinct colonies on NA plates.

C1q/TNF-related protein 6 (CTRP6) links obesity to adipose tissue inflammation and insulin resistance.

Obesity is associated with chronic low-grade inflammation, and metabolic regulators linking obesity to inflammation have therefore received much attention. Secreted C1q/TNF-related proteins (CTRPs) are one such group of regulators that regulate glucose and fat metabolism in peripheral tissues and modulate inflammation in adipose tissue. We have previously shown that expression of CTRP6 is up-regulated in leptin-deficient mice and, conversely, down-regulated by the anti-diabetic drug rosiglitazone.

The role of maternal diet and iron-folic acid supplements in influencing birth weight: evidence from India's National Family Health Survey.

Aim: To examine the role of maternal diet in determining low birth weight (LBW) in Indian infants.

Methods: Data from the National Family Health Survey (2005-06) were used. Multivariate regression analysis was used to analyse the effect of maternal diet on infant birth weight.
