Background: There is limited epidemiologic data on sigmoid volvulus (SV) from non-endemic regions. Therefore, we performed a multicenter study to report contemporary outcomes and appraise literature-based methods that pair diagnostic and procedural codes to identify SV.
Method: Using an automated search for patients with 'volvulus' in our system from 2011 to 2021, we reviewed electronic charts to clarify the diagnosis, automatically replicate three strategies to identify SV, and retrieved 6-month outcomes.
Squamous cell carcinoma in situ (SCCIS) with diffuse pagetoid features has been well-described in skin and external genitalia. Diffuse pagetoid SCCIS of the esophagus is extremely rare with only two cases published in the English literature. In this article, we report a rare case of diffuse pagetoid SCCIS of the esophagus in an 89-year-old female with no significant past medical history who presented with dysphagia.

Limited data exist evaluating the efficacy and safety of OTSC.
Aim: To determine the clinical success and adverse event (AE) rates of OTSC across all GI indications.
Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) placement is a therapeutic modality for patients with end-stage heart failure. Gastrointestinal bleeding is a common complication following LVAD implantation. The aim of this study was to report our experience in management and outcomes of gastrointestinal bleeding in a large cohort of patients with LVADs.

The history of neprilysin inhibition as a treatment for heart failure has been characterized by numerous setbacks. Recently, the PARADIGM-HF trial has shown favorable results, which may bring neprilysin inhibition into the mainstream of clinical practice.

Many studies have shown that insect species respond rapidly to climatic change. A mountain pine beetle epidemic of record size in North America has led to unprecedented mortality of lodgepole pine, and a significant range expansion to the northeast of its historic range.
