Article Synopsis
  • A case is presented of an 89-year-old man with conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) who developed corneal melt after treatment with topical interferon alpha-2B.
  • The patient had several risk factors, including keratoconjunctivitis sicca and limbal stem cell deficiency, and experienced complications like epithelial defects and corneal thinning following surgical excision and cryotherapy.
  • While interferon alpha-2B is generally a safe first-line treatment for CIN, caution is advised in patients with existing eye issues, as it may lead to severe complications like corneal melt.
