Purpose: To evaluate the performance of two non-disease-specific patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments, the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire-25 (VFQ-25) and the Low Luminance Questionnaire (LLQ), in patients with retinaldehyde-binding protein 1 retinal dystrophy (RLBP1 RD).
Methods: PROs were assessed using the VFQ-25 and LLQ. Rasch analysis was conducted to estimate person and item measures of the VFQ-25 and LLQ questionnaires to determine the association between the two PROs.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Xiangsha Liujunzi Wan (LJZW) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula containing a variety of traditional Chinese herb components. Its principal components are often used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and contribute to the treatment of Crohn's disease (CD).
Aim Of The Study: To explore the therapeutic potential of LJZW in CD through network pharmacology, bioinformatics, molecular docking, and experimental verification.

The natural lignan diphyllin has shown promising antitumor activity, although its clinical advancement has been impeded by challenges such as low solubility, poor metabolic stability, and limited potency. In response, we developed and synthesized two sets of diphyllin 4-C derivatives, comprising six ester derivatives and eight 1, 2, 3-triazole derivatives. Notably, among these derivatives, 1, 2, 3-triazole derivatives 7c and 7e demonstrated the most potent cytotoxic effects, with IC values ranging from 0.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Smilax glabra rhizome has a long history been used for clinical purposes in traditional Chinese medicinal for treating various inflammatory conditions. Engeletin (ENG) is one of the most abundant bioactive compounds found in Smilax glabra rhizome, with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and ulcer-preventing activities.
Aim Of The Study: The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of ENG to alleviate inflammatory symptoms and improve epithelial barrier integrity utilize a 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced murine model in Crohn's disease (CD)-like colitis, and to characterize the underlying anti-inflammatory mechanisms of action.
Triclosan (TCS) is an environmental pollutant. In recent years, there has been increasing level of concern regarding the potential toxicity of TCS in animals and humans, especially its effects on the nervous system. However, whether TCS induces ADHD-like behaviour and the mechanism by which it affects neural function are unclear.

Background: Few studies have compared the associations between long-term exposures to particulate matters (aerodynamic diameter ≤1, ≤2.5 and ≤10 µm: PM, PM and PM, respectively) and asthma and asthma-related respiratory symptoms. The objective of the present study was to compare the strength of the aforementioned associations in middle-aged and elderly adults.

This study investigated the impact of long-term exposure to TCS on the prefrontal cortex development in adolescent mice. We evaluated the motor ability, motor coordination, and anxiety behavior of mice using open field tests (OFT) and elevated cross maze tests (EPM).

Methods: We conducted COPD surveillance in six cities of southern China between 2014 and 2019. We recorded the diagnosis of chronic bronchitis, respiratory symptoms, occupational exposure to VGDF and other covariates by using a structured questionnaire.

Triclosan (TCS) is a widely used synthetic, with broad-spectrum antibacterial properties found in both pharmaceuticals and personal care products. More specifically, it is hepatotoxic in rodents and exhibits differential effects in mice and humans. However, the mechanisms underlying TCS-induced liver toxicity have not been elucidated.

Methods: This prospective, noninterventional study included patients with biallelic RLBP1 mutations from two clinical sites in Sweden and Canada. Key assessments included ocular examinations, visual functional measures (best-corrected visual acuity [BCVA], contrast sensitivity [CS], dark-adaptation [DA] kinetics up to six hours for two wavelengths [450 and 632 nm], Humphrey visual fields [HVF], full-field flicker electroretinograms), and structural ocular assessments.
Constitutively activated tyrosine kinase JAK3 is implicated in the pathogenesis of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL). The mechanisms of constitutive JAK3 activation are unknown although a mutation was reported in a small portion of CTCL patients. In this study, we assessed the oncogenic roles of a newly identified fusion transcript in CTCL.

However, few studies have probed into their antidiarrheal mechanisms. This study was designed to investigate the antidiarrheal effect of Renzhu ointment (Renzhuqigao, RZQG) and its underlying mechanisms via transdermal administration.

The aim of this study is to shed light on the molecular mechanism involved in the development of this comorbidity. The gene expression profiles of CRC (GSE90627) and HCC (GSE45267) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database.

The role of the airway microbial ecosystem underlying the interaction of exposure and respiratory health remains unclear. Here, through a province-wide chronic obstructive pulmonary disease surveillance program, we conducted a population-based survey of bacterial (n = 1,651) and fungal (n = 719) taxa and metagenomes (n = 1,128) from induced sputum of 1,651 household members in Guangdong, China.

Herein, colorimetric detection of Co by the polyvinylpyrrolidone functionalized silver nanoparticles (PVP-AgNPs) is realized in solutions with the Zn/Co ratio being high, up to (0.8-5) × 10, which is located within the ratio range in industrial solution.

Unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) aims to leverage a sufficiently labeled source domain to classify or represent the fully unlabeled target domain with a different distribution. Generally, the existing approaches try to learn a domain-invariant representation for feature transferability and add class discriminability constraints for feature discriminability. However, the feature transferability and discriminability are usually not synchronized, and there are even some contradictions between them, which is often ignored and, thus, reduces the accuracy of recognition.
