Anti-NMDA receptor autoimmune encephalitis associated with ovarian teratoma: A case series and literature review.

Autoimmune encephalitis is a group of disorders characterized by symptoms of dysfunction of the limbic and extra-limbic systems that occur in association with antibodies against intracellular antigens, synapses, or proteins located on the surface of nerve cells. Anti-NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor encephalitis was first described in 2007 and has become one of the most commonly recognized autoimmune encephalitides. The disease is predominantly female (81%) and affects young patients (37% <18 years old, 95% <45 years old), with up to 58% of women over 18 years old having ovarian teratoma.

Functional Response of Four Phytoseiid Mites to Eggs and First-Instar Larvae of Western Flower Thrips, .

The predation capacity and functional responses of adult females of the phytoseiid mites (Muma), (Corpuz and Rimando), (Corpuz and Rimando), and (Athias-Henriot) were studied on eggs and first instars of the western flower thrips, (Pergande), in the laboratory at 25 °C and 30 °C. At both temperatures, the functional response of all four phytoseiid mites was type II to first instars of the thrips. In contrast, when offered thrips eggs, the functional response was type III.

Two isoelectronic and isostructural W(0) and Re(I) complexes -W(CO)(PNP) (1) and [-Re(CO)(PNP)]Cl (2) (PNP = 4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)acridine) were synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared, electronic absorption and emission spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. Structures of these complexes show a metal center bonded to the pincer ligand and two axial CO and one equatorial CO ligands. DFT calculations showed that the LUMOs of both complexes are the lowest energy π* orbitals localized in the acridine part of the ligand.

Design and Synthesis of Novel β-Carboline-Bisindole Hybrids as Potential Anticancer Agents.

We are reporting a short and convenient pathway for the synthesis of novel β-carboline-bisindole hybrid compounds from relatively cheap and commercially available chemicals such as tryptamine, dialdehydes and indoles. These newly designed compounds can also be prepared in high yields with the tolerance of many functional groups under mild conditions. Notably, these β-carboline-bisindole hybrid compounds exhibited some promising applications as anticancer agents against the three common cancer cell lines MCF-7 (breast cancer), SK-LU-1 (lung cancer), and HepG2 (liver cancer).

Although the use of the tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has been proved that it can save live in a cancer treatment, the currently used drugs bring in many undesirable side-effects. Therefore, the search for new drugs and an evaluation of their efficiency are intensively carried out. Recently, a series of eighteen imidazole[1,5-a]pyridine derivatives were synthetized by us, and preliminary analyses pointed out their potential to be an important platform for pharmaceutical development owing to their promising actions as anticancer agents and enzyme (kinase, HIV-protease,…) inhibitors.

Breeding programmes have shown arthropod predators' potential to acclimate to challenging host plants. However, whether and how these predators adapt to novel plant environments remain unclear.

Fertility-Preserving Surgery in a Young Nulligravid Woman with Bilateral Coexistence of a Granulosa Cell Tumor with a Teratoma.

Background: The coexistence of a granulosa cell tumor with a teratoma is extremely rare and impossible to diagnose preoperatively. For most patients with advanced age and stage, the standard treatment is hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy; however, fertility-preserving surgery should be considered for young nulligravid women.

Case: We present a case of a 24-year-old nulligravid female with bilateral adnexal masses, imaging findings of ovarian teratomas, and normal levels of tumor markers.

A tetranuclear gold(i) complex [Au(μ-PAnP)(μ-L)] (PAnP = 9,10-bis(diphenylphosphino)anthracene and L = benzene-1,2-dithiolate) has been synthesized and characterised by multinuclear NMR and X-ray crystallography. The molecule has a cyclophane-like structure which can be considered to be composed of two [Au(μ-PAnP)(μ-L)] units held together by Au-S bonds and aurophilic interactions (Au-Au = 3.0712(2) Å).

Although many phenylpropanoid pathway-derived molecules act as physical and chemical barriers to pests and pathogens, comparatively little is known about their role in regulating plant immunity. To explore this research field, we transiently perturbed the phenylpropanoid pathway through application of the CINNAMIC ACID-4-HYDROXYLASE (C4H) inhibitor piperonylic acid (PA). Our description completes missing and inadequate information in the original descriptions and line drawings from Johnius goma in Japan and from Pseudosciaena diacanthus in the Indian Ocean.

Background: Most (82%) of the 46 recognized species of Acanthogyrus (Acanthosentis) Verma and Datta, 1929 are known from Asian freshwater fishes. Only three species of Acanthosentis are known from marine or brackish water fishes from India and Pakistan. We have discovered another marine species of Acanthosentis in the Pacific Ocean, off Vietnam.

Description of Three New Species of Rhadinorhynchus Lühe, 1911 (Acanthocephala: Rhadinorhynchidae) from Marine Fish off the Pacific Coast of Vietnam.

Background: Of the 43 valid species of Rhadinorhynchus Lühe, 1911, 20 species are now known from the Pacific Ocean off Australia, Japan, and Vietnam. We have already described over 50 species and higher taxa from the Pacific Ocean off Vietnam over the last 15 years.

Background: The Mobile Continuing Medical Education Project (mCME V.2.0) was a randomized controlled trial designed to test the efficacy of a text messaging (short message service [SMS])-based distance learning program in Vietnam that included daily quiz questions, links to readings and online courses, and performance feedback.

Implementing the mobile continuing medical education (mCME) project in Vietnam: making it work and sharing lessons learned.

Background: Mobile technology is a novel approach for delivering continuing medical education (CME), with numerous advantages including lower costs and the ability to reach larger numbers than traditional in-person CME workshops.

Methods: From May 2015 to May 2017, we conducted two randomized controlled trials in a phased approach to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile CME (mCME) approach for two cadres of health professionals in Vietnam. The first randomized controlled trial (RCT) tested the use of an SMS-based educational intervention among Community-Based Physician's Assistants; while feasible and acceptable, this intervention failed to improve medical knowledge among participants.
