Phytochemical investigation of the methanol extract of the aerial parts of Lysimachia laxa led to the isolation of four new oleanane-type saponins, lysimosides A-D (1-4) and one known compound, lysimachigenoside B (5). Their structures were elucidated using a combination of HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D-NMR spectral data, chemical methods, and comparison with previous literature. The cytotoxic activity of these compounds was evaluated against human lung cancer (A-549) and human breast cancer (MCF-7) cell lines.

In this study, two undescribed compounds (1 and 2), together with eight known compounds (3-10) were isolated from the aerial parts of Piper samentosum by various chromatography methods. Their chemical structures were determined to be 7'''-oxolyciumamide N (1), vitexin 2''-O-β-D-(6'''-feruloyl)-glucopyranoside (2), 1,2-dihydro-6,8-dimethoxy-7-hydroxy-1-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-N,N-bis-[2-(-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]-2,3-napthalene dicarboamide (3), vitexin 6''-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), vitexin 2''-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (5), methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate-2-O-β-D-apiofuranosyl-(1→2)-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), ficuside G (7), methyl 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosylbenzoate (8), methyl 2,5-dihydroxybenzoate-5-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (9), and 3,7-dimethyloct-1-ene-3,6,7-triol 6-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (10) by spectroscopic data analysis including HR-ESI-MS, 1D-, and 2D-NMR spectra. Compounds 1-5 inhibited nitric oxide production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of nurse-led interventions for individuals with dementia, focusing on their impact on cognitive function, depression, and quality of life.
  • A thorough search of literature revealed that nurse-led interventions significantly reduced depression and enhanced quality of life compared to standard care, but did not improve cognitive performance.
  • The findings highlight the success of nurse-led interventions in addressing emotional and quality-of-life issues in dementia care, yet indicate a need for more randomized controlled trials to fully understand their impact on cognitive function.

Quinoline derivatives are important moieties in bioactive molecules and advanced materials. However, an efficient strategy to synthesize quinoline derivatives remains challenging. Herein, we describe an efficient and practical method for the synthesis of quinolines by Cu-catalyzed cyclization of 2-amino benzyl alcohol with ketones (or secondary alcohols) via an acceptorless dehydrogenation pathway.

Aims And Objectives: To identify the efficacy of non-pharmacological interventions designed to reduce pain in people with dementia.

Background: Pain is prevalent among patients with dementia but frequently remains untreated. Although non-pharmacological interventions have been used to reduce pain in people with dementia, the efficacy of these interventions for pain management in people with dementia has not been thoroughly synthesised.

A stages-of-change approach would be helpful to understand cancer screening behaviors. This study aimed to identify the compliance and determinants of breast self-examination (BSE) based on transtheoretical model (TTM) and health belief model (HBM). A cross-sectional study was conducted with 296 rural Vietnamese women using a self-administered questionnaire consisting of Champion's HBM scales, breast cancer knowledge (BCK), integrated connection to neighborhood storytelling networks (ICSN), and TTM stages of BSE.
