Co TMO ( = 6-8), (TM = V, Cr, Mn, and Fe) clusters are investigated using density functional theory calculations. The transition metal atoms preferentially replace one Co atom at sites where the number of metal-oxygen bonds is maximized, forming more stable structures. The evaporation of a Co atom is the most fragile dissociation channel for both pure and doped species.

Article Synopsis
  • The Asia-Pacific Plasma Leaders' Network (APPLN) aims to tackle the shortage of plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by facilitating expert collaboration and addressing challenges in availability and affordability.
  • Despite recognition from the WHO regarding the importance of PDMPs for treating life-threatening diseases, many LMICs face issues like insufficient plasma supplies and lack of technical resources for fractionation.
  • Recent discussions highlighted the urgent need for improved domestic plasma collection and established fractionation programs, emphasizing that tailored, collaborative strategies are vital for enhancing access to PDMPs in the region.

Molecular and dissociative hydrogen adsorption of transition metal (TM)-doped [MoS] atomic clusters were investigated using density functional theory calculations. The introduced TM dopants form stable bonds with S atoms, preserving the geometric structure. The S-TM-S bridging bond emerges as the most stable configuration.

Plant cells serve as versatile platforms for the production of high-value recombinant proteins. This study explored the efficacy of utilizing an endogenous αAmy3 promoter for the expression of a bioactive pharmaceutical protein, specifically the mature region of human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (hBMP2m). Utilizing a refined CRISPR/Cas9-mediated intron-targeting insertion technique, which incorporates an artificial 3' splicing site upstream of the target gene, we achieved a transformation efficiency of 13.

Background: Hemophilia A (HEMA) is an X-linked bleeding disorder caused by reduced/absent coagulation factor VIII expression, as a result of pathogenic variants in the F8 gene. Preimplantation prevention of HEMA should ideally include direct pathogenic F8 variant detection, complemented by linkage analysis of flanking markers to identify the high-risk F8 allele. Linkage analysis is particularly indispensable when the pathogenic variant cannot be detected directly or identified.

Developing highly efficient and durable hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalysts is crucial for addressing the energy and environmental challenges. Among the 2D-layered chalcogenides, MoSe possesses superior features for HER catalysis. The attractions and high surface energy, however, stack the MoSe layers, resulting in a loss of edge active catalytic sites.

In this work, a new facile one-spot method has been designed to fabricate a magnetic recyclable FeO/rice husk biochar photocatalyst (FBP) for the removal of Ciprofloxacin (CIP) in aqueous solution. This method combines ultrasonic-assisted impregnation and precipitation, which can overcome the difficulties of long-time reactions, complex procedures, and extreme condition requirements. The successful fabrication of the FeO/biochar material has been proven by a series of material characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Raman, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM).

In this work, a green, novel, fast, and facile approach for synthesizing a SiO/C nanocomposite series from rice husk (RH) through quenching and grinding techniques has been reported along with its application for the adsorptive removal of Reactive Red 120 (RR120) dye from an aqueous solution. The effect of carbonization temperature on the textural and interfacial features of RH was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while the structure and elemental composition of the as-synthesized RH were investigated via XRD, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), FT-IR, Raman, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The RH had a high surface area (521.

The D-series resolvins formed from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) work as anti-inflammatory mediators indicating the role of this long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid in the immune system of mammals. However, such information is still limited in fish. The current study was conducted to evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of graded levels of DHA in common carp Cyprinus carpio by in vitro and in vivo approaches.

Objective: Hemophilia A (HA) is an X-linked recessive bleeding disease caused by a deficiency or dysfunction of blood coagulation factor VIII (FVIII). Available treatment to replenish the missing factor may not reach a good outcome for all patients because of potential complications that include the development of inhibitor antibodies directed against factor VIII. Therefore, the prevention of transmitting pathogenic mutations to the next generation is the best solution for this disease.

This study aimed to determine to what extend the addition of chitinase to black soldier fly larvae (BSF) meals enriched with either PUFA or LC-PUFA could improve the gut health of Nile tilapia and increase its immune status. Two types of BSF meals enriched with either α-linolenic acid (ALA) or ALA + eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) + docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were produced using BSF larvae cultured on vegetable substrates (VGS) or fish offal substrates (FOS), respectively. Seven diets were formulated: a control FMFO diet and two other control diets VGD0 vs FOD0 containing the meals of each type of BSF meal as total replacement for fishmeal (FM) and fish oil (FO), as well as four diets supplemented with chitinase.

Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) inhibitors are potential anticancer drugs in the treatment of lymphoma, leukemia, thrombocytosis and particularly myeloproliferative diseases. However, the resemblance among JAK family members has challenged the identification of highly selective inhibitors for JAK2 to reduce undesired side effects. As a result, a robust search for promising JAK2 inhibitors using a computational approach that can effectively nominate new potential candidates to be further analyzed through laborious experimental operations has become necessary.
