Targeted recruitment of immune effector cells for rapid eradication of influenza virus infections.

Despite much research, considerable data suggest that influenza virus remains a serious health problem because i) the effectiveness of current vaccines ranges only from 19% to 60%, ii) available therapies remain ineffective in advanced stages of disease, iii) death rates vary between 25,000 and 72,000/year in the United States, and iv) avian influenza strains are now being transmitted to dairy cattle that in turn are infecting humans. To address these concerns, we have developed zanDR, a bispecific small molecule that binds and inhibits viral neuraminidase expressed on both free virus and virus-infected cells and recruits naturally occurring anti-rhamnose and anti-dinitrophenyl (DNP) antibodies with rhamnose and DNP haptens. Because the neuraminidase inhibition replicates the chemotherapeutic mechanism of zanamivir and oseltamivir, while rhamnose and DNP recruit endogenous antibodies much like an anti-influenza vaccine, zanDR reproduces most of the functions of current methods of protection against influenza virus infections.

Mental health impact on healthcare workers from COVID-19 in Vietnam: Suggestions for a preventive program.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the mental health of healthcare workers participating in the prevention and control of the pandemic, thereby reducing their quality of life and affecting the quality of patient outcomes. This study aims to explore and deeply understand the mental health problems among healthcare workers participating in the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A mixed methods study was undertaken with a descriptive cross-sectional survey of 2870 healthcare workers who have been participating in the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City in 2021, followed by a qualitative descriptive phenomenological study comprised of in-depth interviews with a purposively sampled subset of 40 healthcare workers.

Stress and sleep quality in medical students: a cross-sectional study from Vietnam.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant global social and economic disruptions, as well as changes in personal attitude and behavior. The purpose of this research is to assess the sleep quality and stress levels of medical students.

Method: Data was collected from medical students over the course of a month in 2021.

Background: Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a potentially disabling inflammatory arthritis of the spine, usually presenting as chronic back pain typically before the age of 45 years. It is often associated with one or more articular features, including synovitis, enthesitis, and dactylitis. It may also be associated with several non-articular features; these include uveitis, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel diseases1.

Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with chronic conditions in Vietnam: A cross-sectional study.

Objectives: We assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health, treatment adherence and expectations of patients with chronic diseases in Vietnam.

Methods: We conducted a national cross-sectional study using a questionnaire survey, distributed through social networks and presented on Google Forms. The survey was performed during two months of the most stringent social distancing in Vietnam (between 21 July and 21 September 2021).
