Noninvasive prenatal tests for monogenic diseases (NIPT-SGG) have recently been reported as helpful in early-stage antenatal screening. Our study describes the clinical and genetic features of cases identified by NIPT-SGG. In a cohort pregnancy with abnormal sonograms, affected cases were confirmed by invasive diagnostic tests concurrently, with NIPT-SGG targeting 25 common dominant single-gene diseases.

Biodegradable porous silicon nanotubes (pSiNTs), functionalized with primary amine moieties via the use of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES), is demonstrated as a template for formation of platinum nanocrystals (Pt NCs) (1-3 nm). Transmission electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray analysis (TEM-EDX) indicates a relatively high and tunable concentration of Pt uniformly immobilized on a given nanotube (wt % Pt: 20-60%). In vitro viability and cellular uptake studies are consistent with a time-dependent toxicity of Pt NCs-pSiNTs against HeLa cells that is influenced by the degradation kinetics of the pSiNTs; internalization of the composites inside the cells exerts cellular damage in an apoptotic manner, therefore suggesting promising future applications in anticancer treatments.

Silicon nanotubes (SiNTs) with unique well-defined structural morphologies have been successfully fabricated and recognized as a novel architecture in the nanoscale Si family. While the typical dendritic microstructure of mesoporous silicon prepared anodically has been exploited previously for therapeutics and biosensing, our status of utilizing SiNTs in this regard is still in its infancy. Elucidation of endogenous cellular protein-protein interactions and their networks is most desirable for biological studies. Here we report our study of endogenous human coregulator protein complex networks obtained from integrative mass spectrometry-based analysis of 3290 affinity purifications. By preserving weak protein interactions during complex isolation and utilizing high levels of reciprocity in the large dataset, we identified many unreported protein associations, such as a transcriptional network formed by ZMYND8, ZNF687, and ZNF592.

A high-throughput methodology combined with X-ray powder diffraction measurements was used to investigate the reactivity of the TetraThiaFulvalene TetraCarboxylic acid ((TTF-TC)H(4)) with divalent metals (M = Ni, Co) under various reaction conditions (stoichiometry, pH, temperature). Two new crystalline phases were identified and then studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Whereas the first one appears to be a simple salt, the second one, formulated {[M(H(2)O)(4)](2)(TTF-TC)}·4H(2)O, is built of 2:1 M:TTF-TC molecular complexes and labeled MIL-136(Ni, Co) (MIL stands for Materials Institute Lavoisier).

The reactivity of the redox-active tetracarboxylic acid derived from the tetrathiafulvalene (TTF-TC)H(4) with alkaline cations (K, Rb, Cs) is reported. The exploration of various experimental parameters (temperature, pH) led to the formation of four crystalline three-dimensional coordination polymers formulated M(2)(TTF-TC)H(2) (M = K, Rb, Cs), denoted MIL-132(K), MIL-133(isostructural K, Rb), and MIL-134(Cs). Thermogravimetric analysis and thermodiffraction show that all of the solids are thermally stable up to 150-200 degrees C in the air.

Since the biological role of phospholipase C (PLC) gamma1 in neuronal differentiation still barely understood, here, we report that overexpression of PLC gamma1 inhibits neurite outgrowth and prolonged proliferation ability of PLC gamma1 contribute to the alteration of cell cycle regulatory proteins, subsequently exiting from cell growth arrest. Deletion of the SH3 or the entire SH223 domains, but not deletion of the N-SH2 or both the N-SH2 and C-SH2 domains expressing cells abolishes the differentiation-inhibitory effects of PLC gamma1, displaying depression of PCNA and elevation of cyclin D1. Moreover, these cells declined CDK1 and CDK2 expression and increased p21WAF-1, accompanying with G2/M accumulation.
