Sulfur is one of the inorganic elements used by plants to develop and produce phytoalexin to resist certain diseases. This study reported a method for preparing a material for plant disease resistance. Sulfur nanoparticles (SNPs) stabilized in the chitosan-Cu2+ (CS-Cu2+) complex were synthesized by hydrolysis of Na2S2O3 in an acidic medium.

Objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a lingering progressive neurodegenerative disorder that causes patients to lose cognitive function. The enzyme Acetylcholinesterase (AChE), Butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE), Monoamine oxidase A (MAO A), Beta-secretase cleavage enzyme (BACE 1) and N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors play an important role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, inhibiting enzymes is an effective method to treat Alzheimer disease.

While enjoying the convenience of nuclear energy development, the environmental contamination by radionuclide leakage is of significant concern. Because of its cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness, biochar has attracted a lot of attention in the field of radioactive water treatment. Herein, a novel teak peel modified biochar (labeled as PMBN3) was prepared and applied to remove strontium from artificial seawater.

In order to discover new antibacterial agents, series of 2-salicyloylbenzofuran derivatives were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their antibacterial activities against three Gram-(+) strains (methicillin-sensitive (MSSA) ATCC 29213, methicillin-resistant (MRSA) ATCC 43300, and () ATCC 29212) and one Gram-(-) strain ( ATCC 25922). The 2-salicyloylbenzofuran heterocycles were generated by Rap-Stoermer condensation of salicylaldehydes with phenacyl bromides and then converted to diverse -ether derivatives by Williamson synthesis. The targeted products were screened for in vitro qualitative (zone of inhibition) and quantitative (MIC) antibacterial activities by agar well diffusion assay and agar dilution method.
