Gonococcal keratoconjunctivitis (GKC) is an aggressive infection caused by , which can cause an acute, dreadful, ulcerative keratitis resulting in blindness if left untreated. We report a rare case of bilateral GKC complicated with left eye corneal perforation. A 20-year-old male presented with bilateral eye purulent discharge associated with vision loss over the left eye for two weeks prior to presentation.

is a more prevalent cause of corneal ulcers in developing countries than in developed countries. We report five cases of corneal ulcers attributed to this organism with a literature review on bacterial cornea ulcers. Among the patients, four had underlying systemic illnesses while one was otherwise healthy.

We report a case of isolated left abducens nerve palsy accompanying a right thalamic infarct. The patient, a 43-year-old Malay male with newly diagnosed hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia, initially reported binocular diplopia on left lateral gaze persisting for five weeks. Subsequently, he experienced acute left-sided body weakness and slurred speech for over one day.

Background: The purpose of this study is to compare axial length (AL) and the refractive outcome after phacoemulsification surgery from 2014 to 2019 at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Terengganu, Malaysia.

Method: This was a retrospective record review of all cataract patients who met the inclusion criteria and underwent uneventful superior wound phacoemulsification with nontoric intraocular lens (IOL) by a single surgeon from 2014 to 2019. Using optical biometry or immersion technique, the preoperative AL determined solely via the Sanders, Retzlaff and Kraff 2 (SRK2) formula was selected.

We report a case of central retinal artery occlusion with concurrent ischemic stroke in a young patient. A 34-year-old Malay gentleman, an ex-smoker with underlying dyslipidemia, however, not on medication or follow-up, presented with acute, generalized, and painless right eye blurring of vision for one day. He also complained of on-and-off headaches for the past three months prior to the presentation.

Background Carboplatin and paclitaxel are two standard chemotherapeutic agents known to cause neurotoxicity. In this study, we aim to evaluate the toxicity of these agents by measuring the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and macular thickness in patients with endometrial and ovarian cancers who are receiving them. Methods A one-year prospective cohort study involving 28 patients who were treated intravenously with carboplatin (200-400 mg/m) and paclitaxel (175 mg/m) three-weekly for six cycles was conducted.

Endogenous endophthalmitis is a very rare but potentially devastating intraocular inflammation resulting from hematogenous dissemination into the eye from a remote focus of infection. We present a case of a 49-year-old Vietnamese gentleman with underlying hypertension and ischemic heart disease who presented with sudden onset bilateral eye blurring of vision for five days associated with fever, chills, and rigors. He started to have a chesty cough with right-sided pleuritic chest pain for three days as well as shortness of breath, which developed one day prior to admission.

Endogenous endophthalmitis (EE) is an ocular infection resulting from hematogenous spread from the remote primary source. Risk factors include endocarditis, bacteria meningitis, immunosuppressive state, and invasive procedures in patients with sepsis. We present a case of a 43-year-old gentleman with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus who was admitted for bilateral nasoseptal cellulitis with a right nasal wall abscess and right vocal cord palsy.

Objective To evaluate the anatomical and functional outcomes of an idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) between the observation group and intervention group at six months postoperative. Design Prospective cohort study. Participants Patients who met the clinical diagnosis of idiopathic ERM in the age frame of 18-80 years; patients with reduced visual acuity (VA), with best corrected VA of 0.

Sinonasal lymphoepithelial carcinoma (LEC) is an extremely rare malignancy that shares some characteristics with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In Asian populations, Epstein-Barr virus has been reported to be associated with LEC located outside of the nasopharynx. We report a rare case of sinonasal LEC with locoregional extension (brain and orbit).

The aim of this study is to report an interesting case of bilateral idiopathic optic perineuritis (OPN) presented with severe visual loss. A 64-year-old male with underlying hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and schizophrenia presented with consecutively sudden onset of the right eye (RE) painless blurring of vision for two weeks and left eye (LE) painless blurring of vision for three days. The patient has no other symptoms such as red-eye, floaters, or headache.

Unlabelled: This case-series aims to report three cases of endogenous endophthalmitis due to invasive syndrome.

Case 1: A 34-year-old lady who was admitted for pneumonia developed painful blurring of vision and redness in the right eye (RE) for one week. An examination of the RE revealed visual acuity (VA) of light perception (PL) with positive relative afferent pupillary defect (RAPD), proptosis, and restriction of extraocular movement with hypopyon.

Introduction To evaluate if early tamoxifen toxicity can be detected by comparing pre-and post-treatment optic nerve head parameters and visual function using Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph III (HRT III) and Pattern Visual Evoked Potential (Pattern VEP). Method This is a prospective study involving 76 eyes of 38 breast cancer patients treated with tamoxifen in Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan, Malaysia. These patients were examined by a single doctor and the investigations were done by a single technician.

Purpose: To study the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and optic nerve head (ONH) parameters in obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) patients and their relationship with severity of the disease.

Methods: A cross-sectional, hospital-based study. Fifty-four OSA subjects and 54 controls were recruited.

Objective: To study the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness and visual electrophysiology testing in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Methods: A cross-sectional, hospital-based study: 25 AD subjects and 25 controls were recruited. Candidates who fulfil the criteria with normal ocular examinations were made to proceed with scanning laser polarimetry, pattern electroretinogram (PERG), and pattern visual evoked potential (PVEP) examinations of the right eye.
