Purpose: Myopia is rising in prevalence in many locations, and there is evidence that outdoor light exposure is a major environmental factor playing a role in myopia development. This study examined the patterns of daily light exposure in similarly aged children from two geographic locations (Australia and Singapore) known to exhibit differences in myopia prevalence.
Methods: Wearable light sensors were used to assess daily light exposure in 69 Singaporean children aged 8 to 12 years (mean, 9.
Accurate quantification of methane emissions from the natural gas system is important for establishing greenhouse gas inventories and understanding cause and effect for reducing emissions. Current carbon intensity methods generally assume methane emissions are proportional to gas throughput so that increases in gas consumption yield linear increases in emitted methane. However, emissions sources are diverse and many are not proportional to throughput.

Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive patients who underwent surgery for EC at the gynecologic-oncologic surgery department of Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou (Paris, France) from January, 2002 to December, 2015. Independent-group t tests and chi-square tests were used to compare elderly and nonelderly women.

This study aimed to examine: (1) how the Internet has changed consumers food-buying behavior and identify its associated factors; (2) consumers' concern about food safety information of online food products. A cross-sectional study was performed from October to December 2015 in Hanoi-a Vietnamese epicenter of food service. One thousand seven hundred and thirty six (1736) customers were randomly chosen from food establishments of 176 communes.

The probe displays a 12-fold increase in fluorescence upon binding to bovine CA and also responds to human CA isoforms.

Objective: The standard of care for patients with high intermediate and high risk endometrial cancer is surgical staging including total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy. Over the past decade, laparoscopic or robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery has showed many benefits in the management of endometrial cancer. Few studies have specifically assessed the use of minimally invasive surgery for staging of high risk endometrial cancer.

Background And Objective: This work introduces an object-oriented computational model to study cardiopulmonary interactions in humans.
Methods: Modeling was performed in object-oriented programing language Matlab Simscape, where model components are connected with each other through physical connections. Constitutive and phenomenological equations of model elements are implemented based on their non-linear pressure-volume or pressure-flow relationship.

Study Type: A clinical audit of routinely collected pathology results.
Methods: Demographics and pathology results from a nurse-led health assessment program for newly arrived refugees during 2013 and 2014 were analysed.
Aim: Rectosigmoid resection is often performed during cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer, to achieve the goal of no residual tumour. Here, we evaluated the morbidity associated with rectosigmoid resection and the underlying risk factors.
Methods: We retrospectively assessed consecutive patients managed with rectosigmoid resection during cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer at our centre in Paris, France, between 2005 and 2013.
Background: To investigate the relationship between dietary intakes at six, nine and 12 months and risk of myopia in three-year-old children in a birth cohort.
Methods: Three hundred and seventeen children from the Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) study were included. Dietary intake at six, nine and 12 months of age was ascertained using either 24-hour recalls or three-day food diaries completed by parents.
Objective: To determine the usefulness of panoramic radiographs in determining the labio-palatal position of maxillary impacted canines (MICs) and root resorption of permanent incisors on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in correlation with the mesiodistal position of MICs on panoramic radiographs.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective radiographic study reviewed 64 patients with 86 MICs. Subjects were divided into two groups: group I (<15 years old) and group II (>15 years old).
Solid metal oxides for carbon capture exhibit reduced adsorption capacity following high-temperature exposure, due to surface area reduction by sintering. Furthermore, only low-coordinate corner/edge sites on the thermodynamically stable (100) facet display favorable binding toward CO, providing inherently low capacity. The (111) facet, however, exhibits a high concentration of low-coordinate sites.

Pregnancy-associated breast cancer is rare, but this clinical situation arises in 1/10,000-1/3000 pregnancies. In patients presenting an early-stage breast tumor devoid of clinically pathological lymph node, sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has not yet been validated as a routine procedure for pregnant women due to the lack of data in the literature. The blue dye injection is not recommended because of 2% theoretical risk of anaphylactic shock.

Purpose: To investigate the association of sleep duration and quality at 12 months and myopia at 3 years.
Design: Cohort study.
Methods: The Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) birth cohort recruited pregnant women at 2 major public maternity hospitals (n = 1236).
Introduction: The expansion of methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) program requires more data about the factors affecting the effectiveness of treatment, especially behavioral data such as smoking and alcohol use among patients. This study aimed to examine the prevalence of tobacco and alcohol consumption and identify related factors among MMT patients in the Vietnamese rural mountainside.
Methods: We interviewed 241 MMT patients in two clinics in Tuyen Quang, a mountainous province in Vietnam.
Background: Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) provides information on global and regional ventilation during tidal breathing and mechanical ventilation. During forced expiration maneuvers, the linearity of EIT and spirometric data has been documented in healthy persons. The present study investigates the potential diagnostic use of EIT in pediatric patients with asthma.

In this report, we show that tocilizumab, an anti-IL-6 agent, greatly improved two patients with birdshot chorioretinopathy refractory to conventional immunosuppressive drugs, interferon α2a, and anti-TNFα agents. After a follow-up of 22 months, patients exhibited an improvement of both visual acuity and macular edema.

Pharmacists titrate medications; reinforce patient education; and address care gaps, such as medication adherence, vaccinations, and overdue health screenings. Through these efforts and more, pharmacists help to improve patient care and achieve Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures.

However, zebrafish () maintain the remarkable ability to undergo complete and functional neuroregeneration as an adult. We wish to extend knowledge of the known mechanisms of neuroregeneration by analyzing the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in a novel adult zebrafish model of mTBI.

Objectives: To evaluate the rationale and impact of including patients with aspiration pneumonia in hospital mortality and readmission measures.
Methods: Using Medicare fee-for-service claims for patients 65 years and older from July 2012 to June 2015, we characterized the proportion of hospitals' patients with pneumonia diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, calculated hospital-specific risk-standardized rates of 30-day mortality and readmission for patients with pneumonia, analyzed the association between aspiration pneumonia coding frequency and these rates, and recalculated these rates including patients with aspiration pneumonia.
The potential benefit of breast cancer screening is mitigated by the risk of false positives and overdiagnosis, thus advocating for a more personalized approach, based on the individual benefit-harm balance. Since personality might influence the women's appraisal of this balance, this prospective observational cohort study examined whether it could influence mammography use. A total of 2691 postmenopausal women of the GAZEL Cohort Study completed the Bortner Type A Rating Scale and the Buss and Durkee Hostility Inventory in 1993.

On this basis, a humanized glyco-engineered monoclonal antibody (3C23K) has been developed. The aim of this study was therefore to experimentally confirm the therapeutic potential of 3C23K in human OCs.
