Background And Purpose: Physiological changes in tumour occur much earlier than morphological changes. They can potentially be used as biomarkers for therapeutic response prediction. This study aimed to investigate the optimal time for early therapeutic response prediction with multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) receiving concurrent chemo-radiotherapy (CCRT).

Neurostimulation for Chronic Pain: A Systematic Review of High-Quality Randomized Controlled Trials With Long-Term Follow-Up.

Objective: This study aimed to review the best evidence on the long-term efficacy of neurostimulation for chronic pain.

Materials And Methods: We systematically reviewed PubMed, CENTRAL, and WikiStim for studies published between the inception of the data bases and July 21, 2022. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with a minimum of one-year follow-up that were of high methodologic quality as ascertained using the Delphi list criteria were included in the evidence synthesis.

Digital endpoints in clinical trials of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases: challenges and opportunities.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease (PD) and Huntington's disease (HD) are associated with progressive cognitive, motor, affective and consequently functional decline considerably affecting Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and quality of life. Standard assessments, such as questionnaires and interviews, cognitive testing, and mobility assessments, lack sensitivity, especially in early stages of neurodegenerative diseases and in the disease progression, and have therefore a limited utility as outcome measurements in clinical trials. Major advances in the last decade in digital technologies have opened a window of opportunity to introduce digital endpoints into clinical trials that can reform the assessment and tracking of neurodegenerative symptoms.

Introduction: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of vision impairment globally and early detection is crucial to prevent vision loss. However, the screening of AMD is resource dependent and demands experienced healthcare providers. Recently, deep learning (DL) systems have shown the potential for effective detection of various eye diseases from retinal fundus images, but the development of such robust systems requires a large amount of datasets, which could be limited by prevalence of the disease and privacy of patient.

Association of Elevated Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) in COVID-19 Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and Their Clinical Outcomes.

Aim The study aimed to collect retrospective data to investigate the association between elevated glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and clinical outcomes in COVID-19 patients admitted to the ICU, including in-hospital mortality and 90-day mortality.  Methods This is an observational retrospective study using electronic health records of patients with diabetes admitted to the ICU with COVID-19 across the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Central PA Hospitals. Our retrospective analysis was performed on patients admitted to the ICU between May 1, 2021, to May 1, 2022.

Context: Cost-conscious care is critical for healthcare sustainability but evidence suggests that most doctors do not consider cost in their clinical decision making. A critical step in changing this is understanding the barriers to encouraging behaviours and attitudes related to cost-conscious care. We therefore conducted a qualitative study to address the research question: what factors influence consideration of cost in emergency medicine (ED) clinical decision making?

Methods: This was a qualitative focus group study using patient vignettes to explore attitudes towards cost-conscious clinical decision making.

The discussion primarily distinguishes between matcha and regular green tea with processing and compositional factors, and demonstrates beneficial health effects of consuming matcha. Anti-hypertensive prescription practices in private hospitals in Malaysia: a prospective, non-interventional, observational study.

Introduction: In managing hypertension, monotherapy and sometimes a combination of more than one agent are used to achieve blood pressure (BP) control. The objective of this prospective, observational, multi-centre study was to assess the level of BP control in patients receiving one or more anti-hypertensive drugs in private medical centres in Malaysia according to the treatment regimens (monotherapy, free drug combinations and single pill combinations).

Materials And Methods: Data were collected through medical records and interview sessions with patients on current pharmacotherapy for hypertension management at baseline and 2-3 months later.
