Drought and heat events, such as the 2018 European drought, interact with the exchange of energy between the land surface and the atmosphere, potentially affecting albedo, sensible and latent heat fluxes, as well as CO exchange. Each of these quantities may aggravate or mitigate the drought, heat, their side effects on productivity, water scarcity and global warming. Radiation accidents or terrorist attacks can result in serious consequences for the civilian population and for military personnel responding to such emergencies. The early medical management situation requires quantitative indications for early initiation of cytokine therapy in individuals exposed to life-threatening radiation doses and effective triage tools for first responders in mass-casualty radiological incidents. Previously established animal (Mus musculus, Macaca mulatta) total-body irradiation (γ-exposure) models have evaluated a panel of radiation-responsive proteins that, together with peripheral blood cell counts, create a multiparametic dose-predictive algorithm with a threshold for detection of ~1 Gy from 1 to 7 d after exposure as well as demonstrate the acute radiation syndrome severity score systems created similar to the Medical Treatment Protocols for Radiation Accident Victims developed by Fliedner and colleagues.

The relaxant effect of an aryloxypropanolamine β3-adrenoceptor agonist on carbachol pre-contracted human detrusor muscle strips was evaluated and compared with literature results from reference compounds of similar mode of action, including mirabegron. A significant relaxation was observed for rac-4-{2-hydroxy-3-[1-(5-phenylthieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)piperidin-4-ylamino]propoxy}-2-(hydroxymethyl)phenol which was similar to that exerted by mirabegron. In order to allow for a thorough discussion of results in comparison to reference compounds, their affinity, selectivity and efficacy as hβ3-AR agonists have been evaluated and discussed thoroughly.
