Background: In patients in whom attempted endoscopic stenting of malignant biliary obstruction fails, combined percutaneous-endoscopic stenting and percutaneous stenting using expandable metallic endoprostheses offer alternative approaches to biliary drainage. Crash investigations indicate that occupants on the struck side of a vehicle may also be injured by contact with an adjacent occupant in the same seating row. Anecdotal information suggests that the injury consequences of occupant-to-occupant impacts can be severe, and sometimes life threatening.

The workshop was open to participation by all sectors of the neuroscience community including academia, government, testing laboratories, and industry. The level of confidence with which changes in behavior can reliably signal adverse effects on the nervous system depends, in part, on the scientific quality of the data generated.
