Background: Network meta-analysis (NMA) has been increasingly adopted worldwide by Cochrane reviews, guideline developers and decision-making bodies to identify optimal treatment choices. When measuring the dielectric properties of aqueous samples, the impedance of the electrode/sample interface can limit low frequency measurements. The electrode polarization problem can be reduced by increasing the effective surface area of the electrodes. In this work, impedance spectroscopy was used to characterize and compare three different electrode surfaces that can be used to mitigate this effect: platinum black, iridium oxide, and [polypyrrole/poly(styrenesulphonate)] (PPy/PSS) conducting polymer.

Through the combination of previous technologies developed in our lab (namely, on-chip cell culture and electrochemical cell lysis) we have designed, fabricated, and characterized an integrated microfluidic platform capable of culturing HeLa, MCF-7, Jurkat, and CHO-K1 cells for up to five days and subsequently lysing the cells without the need to add lysing reagents. On-demand lysis was accomplished by local hydroxide ion generation within microfluidic chambers, releasing both proteinacious (GFP) and genetic (Hoescht-stained DNA) material.

This framework is benchmarked against legislative excerpts from within Australian jurisdictions, as well as the major policy initiatives of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) water reform agenda, the Commonwealth's National Action Plan on Salinity and Water Quality, and others. The model framework has been heavily influenced by current thinking on ecological systems, good governance, and organisational management.
