Dark matter particles, if sufficiently light, may be produced in decays of the Higgs boson. This Letter presents a statistical combination of searches for H→invisible decays where H is produced according to the standard model via vector boson fusion, Z(ℓℓ)H, and W/Z(had)H, all performed with the ATLAS detector using 36.1  fb^{-1} of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV at the LHC.

Background: In human body fluids, microRNA (miRNA) can be found as circulating cell-free miRNA (cfmiRNA), as well as secreted into extracellular vesicles (EVmiRNA). miRNAs are being intensively evaluated as minimally invasive liquid biopsy biomarkers in patients with cancer. The growing interest in developing clinical assays for circulating miRNA necessitates careful consideration of confounding effects of preanalytical and analytical parameters.

Neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) is a rare heterogeneous progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the presence of eosinophilic hyaline intranuclear inclusions in neuronal and glial cells of the CNS, peripheral cells of the autonomic nervous system, visceral organs and skin. The clinical presentation is broadly heterogeneous and includes limb weakness, dementia, seizures, ataxia, and parkinsonism. High-intensity signal in the corticomedullary junction on brain MRI is a characteristic finding in NIID.

This Letter presents a search for the production of a long-lived neutral particle (Z_{d}) decaying within the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter, in association with a standard model (SM) Z boson produced via an intermediate scalar boson, where Z→ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} (ℓ=e, μ). The data used were collected by the ATLAS detector during 2015 and 2016 pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36.1±0.

Calorie intake plays an important role in maintaining a healthy weight. As such, researchers often use the calorie content of food as a distinction when investigating appetite related brain processes and eating behaviour. This distinction assumes that observers accurately perceive caloric content.

The clinicopathologic characterization of tumoral intra-epithelial neoplasms of the gallbladder is fairly limited compared to that of similar tumors of the pancreatobiliary system. Until recently, pre-malignant lesions of the gallbladder were mostly reported as adenomas, which were microscopic and therefore regarded as benign and clinically inconsequential, whereas papillary lesions have been largely regarded as a papillary subtype of gallbladder invasive adenocarcinoma. In an attempt to create a unified terminology for these tumors, the term Intracholecystic papillary-tubular neoplasm (ICPN) was proposed to include all exophytic intra-epithelial tumors of the gallbladder measuring ≥1 cm under one category.

Background Interpreting hematology analytes in children is challenging due to the extensive changes in hematopoiesis that accompany physiological development and lead to pronounced sex- and age-specific dynamics. Continuous percentile charts from birth to adulthood allow accurate consideration of these dynamics. However, the ethical and practical challenges unique to pediatric reference intervals have restricted the creation of such percentile charts, and limitations in current approaches to laboratory test result displays restrict their use when guiding clinical decisions.

Recent efforts reclassified B-Cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (BCP-ALL) into more refined subtypes. Nevertheless, outcomes of relapsed BCP-ALL remain unsatisfactory, particularly in adult patients where the molecular basis of relapse is still poorly understood. To elucidate the evolution of relapse in BCP-ALL, we established a comprehensive multi-omics dataset including DNA-sequencing, RNA-sequencing, DNA methylation array and proteome MASS-spec data from matched diagnosis and relapse samples of BCP-ALL patients (n = 50) including the subtypes DUX4, Ph-like and two aneuploid subtypes.

Chromosomal rearrangements and specific aneuploidy patterns are initiating events and define subgroups in B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL). Here we analyzed 250 BCP-ALL cases and identified a novel subgroup ('PAX5-plus', n = 19) by distinct DNA methylation and gene expression profiles. All patients in this subgroup harbored mutations in the B-lineage transcription factor PAX5, with p.

Introduction: The therapeutic paradigm in Alzheimer's disease (AD) has shifted towards secondary prevention, defined as an intervention aiming to prevent or delay disease onset in pre-symptomatic individuals at risk of developing dementia due to AD. The key feature of AD prevention is the need to treat years or even decades before the onset of cognitive, behavioural or functional decline. Prediction of AD risk and evaluation of long-term treatment outcomes in this setting requires predictive modelling and is associated with ethical concerns and social implications.

A new methodology to segment the three-dimensional (3D) internal structure of Ibuprofen tablets from synchrotron tomography is presented, introducing a physically coherent trinarization for greyscale images of Ibuprofen tablets consisting of three phases: microcrystalline cellulose, Ibuprofen and pores. For this purpose, a hybrid approach is developed combining a trinarization by means of statistical learning with a trinarization based on a watershed algorithm. This hybrid approach allows us to compute microstructure characteristics of tablets using methods of statistical image analysis.

We report the results of a ring polymer molecular dynamics study of the Kubo velocity autocorrelation function of a quantum fluid as para-hydrogen aimed at the comparison with its classical counterpart. Quite different density conditions were considered for both the classical and quantum cases, in order to compare the two systems before and after the dynamical crossover typically undergone by the velocity autocorrelation function (VAF) of fluids at densities around the triple point, where the shape of the function changes from a monotonic to an oscillatory behavior with a negative minimum. A detailed study of the phase diagram of classical para-hydrogen was necessary for a reasonable choice of the classical states to be taken into consideration, in the spirit of the classical principle of corresponding states.

The transition to flowering is a crucial step in the plant life cycle that is controlled by multiple endogenous and environmental cues, including hormones, sugars, temperature, and photoperiod. Permissive photoperiod induces the expression of () in the phloem companion cells of leaves. The FT protein then acts as a florigen that is transported to the shoot apical meristem, where it physically interacts with the Basic Leucine Zipper Domain transcription factor FD and 14-3-3 proteins.

Transcribing RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) is decorated by a plethora of post-translational modifications that mark different stages of transcription. One important modification is RNAPII ubiquitylation, which occurs in response to numerous different stimuli that cause RNAPII stalling, such as DNA damaging agents, RNAPII inhibitors, or depletion of the nucleotide pool. Stalled RNAPII triggers a so-called "last resort pathway", which involves RNAPII poly-ubiquitylation and proteasome-mediated degradation.

Reliable prediction of the polymorphic energy landscape of a molecular crystal would yield profound insight into drug development in terms of the existence and likelihood of late-appearing polymorphs. However, the computational prediction of molecular crystal polymorphs is highly challenging due to the high dimensionality of conformational and crystallographic space accompanied by the need for relative free energies to within 1 kJ/mol per molecule. In this study, we combine the most successful crystal structure sampling strategy with the most successful first-principles energy ranking strategy of the latest blind test of organic crystal structure prediction methods.
