Subperiosteal implants have experienced fluctuating popularity since their inception. Initially introduced in the mid-20th century, they were overshadowed by the development and success of endosteal implants, which are now the standard in dental implantology. Modern subperiosteal implants are typically custom-made using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technologies, which ensure a precise fit to the patient's bone anatomy.

Objective: This manuscript presents the protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis designed to summarize the existing evidence concerning the outcomes of multivisceral oncological pancreatic resections across diverse tumor entities.
Methods: We will conduct a systematic search of the PubMed or MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and ClinicalTrials.
In recent years, the stacking and twisting of atom-thin structures with matching crystal symmetry has provided a unique way to create new superlattice structures in which new properties emerge. In parallel, control over the temporal characteristics of strong light fields has allowed researchers to manipulate coherent electron transport in such atom-thin structures on sublaser-cycle timescales. Here we demonstrate a tailored light-wave-driven analogue to twisted layer stacking.

This paper focuses on complex cases of bimaxillary dental rehabilitation, where traditional dental implant protocols were not feasible in at least one jaw. Four patients were examined conceptually, where conventional dental implant placement (n = 20) was combined in either the same or opposite jaw with a patient-specific subperiosteal implant (n = 5).

Appropriate operation planning is crucial for postoperative quality control and is notably necessary for the (re-) achievement of a physiological condylar position, and the sensible expansion and shaping of the transplant. Computer-assisted planning may help to reconstruct mandibular defects in a patient-specific and precise manner.

The aim of this cohort study was to determine whether practical preoperative dental screening would reduce the prevalence of early PJI in the first month after surgery.
Methods: Patients attending a specialized endoprosthesis implantation clinic between 2018 and 2022 were recruited.

Adipocyte dysfunction is a hallmark of systemic insulin resistance. Insulin-responsive glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) is downregulated in the insulin resistant state, and cellular insulin responsiveness varies depending on fat depot origin and degree of adipose expansion. Here, we have resolved factors limiting cellular insulin responsiveness, by examining adipocyte function and traits related to glucose transport at the cellular level.

The primary endpoints assessed were the incidence of infection, failure of surgical correction, and antibiotic-related side effects. Patients with orofacial clefts affecting the alveolar ridge who underwent alveolar cleft osteoplasty at a tertiary care center between 2015 and 2021 were included.

We identified EH domain-containing protein 2 (EHD2) as one of the most highly upregulated genes at the early stage of adipose-tissue expansion. EHD2 is a dynamin-related ATPase influencing several cellular processes, including membrane recycling, caveolae dynamics, and lipid metabolism.

The preoperative oral health statuses of the patients, prior to EP insertion, were either evaluated by the patients' general dentists (Ia) or, if the patient had not visited a general dentist, by an instructed orthopedic surgeon (Ib). Both the dentist and orthopedic surgeon used standardized risk estimation (low risk, moderate risk, and high risk) for an oral-health-related infectious complication after EP insertion, including a recommendation for further management of the patient.

Treatment options include craniofacial distraction, orthognathic surgery, and autologous grafts, although the latter produces inadequate results after distraction and autologous grafting. Unsatisfactory long-term stability may cause relapse, necessitating reoperation.

Chemical reactions on the surface of charged droplets are ubiquitous in nature and can provide critical insight into more efficient processes for industrial chemical production. Here, we demonstrate the application of the reaction nanoscopy technique to strong-field ionized nanodroplets of propanediol (PDO).

Orbital decompression is an established procedure used to correct exophthalmos that results from excess orbital soft tissue. This study aimed to explore a new minimally-invasive technique that features three-dimensional planning and patient-specific implants for lateral valgisation (LAVA) of the orbital wall. We analysed the outcomes of this procedure in nine endocrine orbitopathy (EO) patients (32-65 years of age with a mean clinical activity score of 4.

Numerous studies demonstrate the high prevalence of dental aplasia, supernumerary teeth, and hypoplastic teeth in patients with cleft lip with/without cleft palate (CL/P), yet the therapeutic consequences are rarely discussed. This study explores prevalence, localization, and association between primary and secondary dentition in a large European collective and begins to evaluate the significance of dental anomalies in the therapeutic course of patients with CL/P.

Geographical and cultural barriers demand creative ways of delivering culturally appropriate effective dementia care. Focus groups and interviews with people ( = 73) from three Aboriginal Medical Services and communities explored attitudes toward, and experiences of dementia care and services.

The presence of hypertrophic adipocytes is a key characteristic of adipose tissue dysfunction. High-fat diet (HFD) fed C57BL/6J mice are a commonly used model to study obesity and obesity-related complications.

Peer-led interventions can be a particularly advantageous delivery method of positive psychology interventions, as participants tend to respond more favourably to people that they can identify with personally. Such interventions have been applied in a variety of settings and populations, but the literature on peer-led positive psychology interventions has not yet been summarised.
