Persons living with dementia are at risk of becoming lost. While return discussions after missing incidents are common with children, these discussions are seldom done with persons living with dementia. Our objective was to describe the use of return discussions with persons living with dementia according to the literature and practice.

In this study, we sought to address some barriers associated with using virtual reality (VR) to assess an interprofessional team of students' knowledge of and practice with telehealth and their ability to address psychosocial health.
Methods: A non-experimental, descriptive, embedded (explanatory quan/QUAL) mixed methods design of 240 students enrolled in the IPE Journey of Professional Trans-formation, Fall 2022.
Managing data from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems presents challenges to health care provider teams that rely on the electronic health record (EHR) during patient visits. A method of integrating CGM data with the EHR that relies on the Dexcom API was developed by Northwestern Medicine and Dexcom to address these challenges. Here, we describe the data management steps and user interface of the integrated system.

Purpose: This study examined public school (PS) speech-language pathologists' (SLPs') perceived confidence in managing pediatric feeding disorders (PFDs). Perceived confidence is a rater's self-reported assurance level to manage PFDs. The study then looked for relationships between personal and professional factors that might account for perceived confidence.

Although online learning has been a part of the higher education landscape, it has not been traditionally utilized by health science faculty to its fullest capacity.
Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study was to examine health science faculty perceptions regarding their readiness to teach online.
Bevacizumab has demonstrated significant benefit in recurrent ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer (OC), but its optimal position within the sequence of systemic therapies remains controversial. Since rebound progression after bevacizumab has been observed in other cancers, and because bevacizumab is incorporated in several regimens used in the recurrent setting, the duration of treatment may impact survival. We sought to identify whether earlier bevacizumab exposure is associated with prolonged bevacizumab therapy and survival by conducting a multi-institution retrospective study of recurrent OC patients treated with bevacizumab from 2004-2014.

The global pandemic expedited the adoption of AgeTech solutions that aim to help older adults maintain their autonomy and independence. This article examines the negative impact of the Western worldview of autonomy and independence on older adults. Negative impact can manifest as ageism and may be compounded by intersections of identities with race, gender, and culture.

The purpose of this paper is to describe interprofessional students' perceptions of professionalism, ethics, and teamwork before and after being immersed in an interprofessional education Module on these topics. Through a program review process, pre- and post-Module survey responses from 10 interprofessional students were randomly reviewed by five faculty from different health sciences disciplines.

Health care aides, also known as personal care workers, are unlicensed service providers who encompass the second largest workforce, next to nurses, that provide care to older adults in Canada.
Objective: The purpose of this literature review is to examine the range and extent of barriers and benefits of ICT used by health care workers to manage and coordinate the care-delivery workflow for their clients.
A growing number of Canadians live with dementia. Strategies to reduce the risks of getting lost include physical barriers, restraints and medications. However, these strategies can restrict one's participation in meaningful activities and reduce quality of life.

Background: Many patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); however, a relevant proportion have a CIED system that has not been classified as MRI-conditional because of generators and leads from different brands (mixed-brand group). The available data concerning the outcome of these mixed patients undergoing MRI is limited.
Methods: A retrospective single center study, including all patients with CIEDs undergoing MRI between January 2013 until May 2020, was performed.
The prevalence of persons living with dementia and at risk of going missing is rising. In this study, we engaged persons living with dementia, care partners, police services, search and rescue organizations, and health and social service providers to develop Community ASAP, a mobile alert system that engages community citizens, as volunteers, to look out for persons with dementia reported missing. We completed three phases of development and evaluation of the usability and functionality of the alert system with stakeholders in three Canadian provinces.

Storytelling is commonly used in therapies for persons living with dementia and can be in the form of life review, and reminiscence therapy. A systematic literature review was conducted to examine the range and extent of the use of digital technologies for facilitating storytelling in older adults and their care partners, and to identify the processes and methods, the technologies used and their readiness levels, the evidence, and the associated outcomes.

Muscle strength is sex-related and declines with advancing age; yet, a comprehensive comparative evaluation of age-related strength loss in human females and males has not been undertaken. To do so, segmented piecewise regression analysis was performed on aggregated data from studies published from 1990 to 2018 and are available in CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE, and PsycINFO databases. The search identified 5613 articles that were reviewed for physical assessment results stratified by sex and age.

Sixty-percent of Canadians with dementia will wander and become lost. Strategies, such as wall murals that camouflage doors, and locator devices, offer proactive options for keeping persons with dementia who wander safer. Information that describes available strategies to mitigate this issue is diverse and inconsistent, creating challenges for caregivers and persons living with dementia when choosing helpful strategies.

This study developed and validated a conceptual model and series of guidelines to facilitate choice of wander-management strategies. Face and content validity of the model and guidelines were assessed through an online and paper survey, individual interviews and focus groups across stakeholders.
