The effect of smoking on clinical presentation and expression of TLR-2 and CD34 in Oral lichen Planus patients: clinical and immunohistochemical study.

Background: Oral lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease which is considered as a potential precancerous condition. Numerous studies have confirmed that inflammation is a strong risk factor for cancer development. Smoking is associated with potentially malignant disorders of the oral and oropharyngeal mucosa.

Immunohistochemical expression of endothelin protein in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Context: Endothelin-1 (ET-1) plays a significant role in cancer biology and is considered as a potential target for molecular therapy. Alteration of ET-1 was detected in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

Aim: To evaluate the immunohistochemical expression and distribution of ET-1 in OSCC and to correlate its expression with the degree of histopathologic differentiation as well as the regional metastatic status of OSCC.
