Acupuncture is a technique that the World Health Organization has accepted as a complementary treatment. Aim: The purpose of this study was to search for the effects of adenotonsillectomy (A&T) on height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), as well as changes in ghrelin, leptin, and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels in children with adenotonsillar hypertrophy (ATH)-related sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).

Methods: A study cohort of 39 children clinically diagnosed with ATH-related SDB was included in this study. Twenty-three healthy children were included as controls.

An 8-year-old child diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder presented to our Department of Otolaryngology 4 days after suffering hearing loss, loss of balance, tinnitus, and fullness sensation of the left ear. Her symptoms occured with the first dose of methylphenidate. The medical history and physical examination revealed no other diseases associated with sudden hearing loss.

We aimed to investigate the prophylactic effect of pentoxifylline (PTX) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) on laryngotracheal stenosis in tracheotomised rats by evaluating blood glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase activities and by histopathological evaluation of laryngotracheal segment. Randomized prospective single-blind study. Standard vertical tracheotomy was performed on 24 rats.
