he concentration of erythropoietin (EPO) in serum was studied. The study included 122 people divided into two groups. The main group (group 1) consisted of 102 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Aim: To study procalcitonin concentrations in serum and semen samples of healthy men and men with oligoasthenozoospermia.

The natriuretic peptides regulate pressure and water metabolism in human organism. The concentration of N-thermal cerebral natriuretic propeptide (NT-proBNP) in tear and blood serum was analyzed. The sampling included 49 patients divided on three groups.

The sampling consisted of 100 patients with chronic hepatitis C. The control group included 80 healthy donors.

The concentration of procalcitonin was analyzed at 2-3 days after operation in simultaneously obtained samples of blood serum and exudation of small intestine. The level of procalcitonin was analyzed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with test-systems with sensitivity 0.

Subjects And Methods: Ninety patients with reactivation-phase CHC and 50 patients with exacerbation-phase UC were examined. The serum levels of catalase and GP were determined and the polymorphic variants of the marker of CAT gene rs1001179 in the DNA isolated from whole blood were found in all the patients.
The sample of 72 patients with craniocerebral injury of light and medium degree in acute period was used to study the content of serotonin in blood serum and spinal liquor. The increase of the level of serotonin in blood serum depending on degree of severity of trauma was established. This occurrence can be used as a technique of differential diagnostic of concussion and contusion of brain.

The analysis was applied to the results of counting of 200 leukocytes in 30 blood smears prepared from venous blood stabilized with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid using thoroughly degreased slide plates and applying automatic device to prepare blood smears (comparative group) and in 49 preparations prepared manually from non-stabilized capillary blood (control group). The standardization of the procedure of preparation of glass samples resulted in five time decrease of total amount of artifacts and in disappearance of thrombocytes aggregates and pavement epithelium cells.

Chemiluminescence analysis (CA) was made for different biological fluids in 50 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Intensified chemiluminescence of erythrocytes, blood serum, urine and tear is indicative of an enhanced free-radical oxidation in diabetes mellitus. CA of biological fluids made in DM patients reflects a disease severity.

Collection of tears is absolutely painless, atraumatic, and involves virtually no risk of viral infections. Analysis of the lacrimal fluid is particularly valuable for repeated analyses over the course of disease.

Signs of microdislocation of an endocardial electrode (EE) were observed in 56 (14.4%) of 390 patients with an implantable pacemaker in the postoperative period. The microdislocation was diagnosed from electrocardiographic evidence for no response of a pacing pulse and from fluctuations in the pacing threshold, and from X-ray findings of the thickened and ill-defined outlines of a distal EE with preserving cardiac stimulation.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe late outcomes of continuous endocardial pacing surgery were studied in 34 patients when various approaches were used to fix a proximal endocardial electrode. When fixed to a vein or its adjacent tissues, the electrode remained to be stable while raising hands. When fixed to the cephalic vein, this procedure was accompanied by the displacement of the endocardial electrode and the appearance of X-ray signs of electrode instability.
