Antibiotic resistance is rising dramatically worldwide, and thus the production of new antibiotics is indispensable. Recent scientific initiatives have focused on the bioprospecting of microorganisms' secondary metabolites, with a particular focus on the look for natural products with antimicrobial properties derived from endophytes. All plant species, regardless of their type, are thought to anchor endophytic bacteria (EB).

To search endophytic bacteria diversity and evaluate their antibacterial activity, healthy medicinal plant of was chosen in this study. One hundred endophytic bacteria were isolated from surface-sterilized tissues (root, stem and leaf) of . Using sequence analysis targeting 16S rRNA gene, eight genera, including , , , , , , and were identified.

A new ultrasensitive immunosensor is proposed based on the covalently attached anti-protein A antibody (IgY) on deposited gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for the electrochemical measurement of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Chicken IgY as a capture antibody provides highly selective and specific binding to the target bacteria and selectively captures the S.

A crossbreeding experiment was carried out to determine the sire breed effects on fattening performance of fat-tailed lambs. Rams from four Iranian fat-tailed sheep breeds, namely Kurdi (K), Afshari (A), Chaal (C) and Sanjabi (S) were mated to Kurdi ewes producing 454 progeny of four genotype groups (KK, AK, CK and SK). A total of 80 lambs comprising ten female and ten male lambs from each genotype group were used in a fattening experiment during a period of 88 days.

Staphylococcus aureus isolates recovered from poultry between 1970 and 1972 (90 old isolates) and in 2006 (81 recent isolates) were screened for the presence of bap, icaA and icaD genes associated with biofilm formation, and for bbp, cna, ebpS, eno, fib, fnbA, fnbB, clfA and clfB genes that encode microbial surface components recognizing adhesive matrix molecules (MSCRAMMs). Most of the old isolates were collected from broiler breeders affected by staphylococcal tenosynovitis and arthritis, whilst nearly all recent isolates were derived from the nose and cloaca of healthy broilers. Ten recent isolates belonged to the animal-associated methicillin-resistant S.

The susceptibilities of 12 antimicrobial agents for two collections of Staphylococcus aureus, isolated in the 1970s and in 2006 from poultry, were determined. For eight antibiotics, the percentage of resistance was significantly higher in the recent isolates. Ten recent isolates were methicillin resistant and had spa types t011 and t567, belonging to multilocus sequence type 398.
