Colorectal cancer survival in Manizales, Colombia, 2008-2017: a population-based study.

Objective: To determine 5-year survival in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) according to patient and tumor characteristics.

Methods: Longitudinal study based on incident cases of invasive CRC between 2008 and 2017 captured by the Manizales Population-based Cancer Registry (n=850). Patients were followed up to August 24th, 2021.

Residential Radon in Manizales, Colombia: Results of a Pilot Study.

Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless noble gas, causally related with the onset of lung cancer. We aimed to describe the distribution of radon exposure in the municipality of Manizales, Colombia, in order to estimate the population's exposure and establish the percentage of dwellings that surpass reference levels. A cross-sectional study representing all geographical areas was carried out by measuring indoor radon concentrations.

Cervical cancer incidence and patient survival in Manizales, Colombia, 2008-2012.

Objective: To estimate the cervical cancer incidence and survival rates by histological subtype and stage in Manizales, Colombia during 2008-2012; and to compare the survival rate to the one from the previous five years.

Materials And Methods: Using population-based data, incidence rates by age were standardized for each histological subtype. Active and passive follow-up was performed to determine vital status and cause of death at 60 months.

Perception about barriers and facilitators of the school-based HPV vaccine program of Manizales, Colombia: A qualitative study in school-enrolled girls and their parents.

In 2012, Colombia implemented a school-based HPV vaccination program of a 3-dose series for nine year old girls. Following a mass psychogenic response after vaccination in a Colombian town, vaccination rates dropped from 80% in 2012-2013 to 5% in 2016. Health inequities and cancer survival in Manizales, Colombia: a population-based study.

Objective: To analyze differences in survival of breast, cervical, lung, prostate and stomach cancer by health insurance regime (HIR) and socioeconomic position (SEP) in an intermediate city in a middle-income country.

Methods: All patients with breast, cervix uteri, lung, prostate and stomach cancer diagnosed between 2003 and 2007 and characterized by the Manizales population-based Cancer Registry (MCR) were included and followed up to a maximum of 5 years for identifying deaths. Survival probabilities estimated by HIR were defined according to the type of affiliation at the date of diagnosis, and by socioeconomic stratification of residence (SS) as indicator of SEP, stratifying for other prognostic factors using Kaplan-Meier methods.
