- Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) frequently develop in dentistry students, particularly affecting the spine, but there’s limited research on the relationship between spinal curve changes and MSDs in this population.
- A study involving 73 dentistry students tracked spinal changes over five years using a Spinal Mouse® device and found that spinal curve parameters varied by gender and changed throughout their education.
- Despite observing changes in spinal curves, no significant links were found between these objective findings and the self-reported incidence of MSDs among the students, suggesting the need for further research on this issue.
