Background: Implantable loop recorders (ILRs) are increasingly placed for arrhythmia detection. However, historically, ≈75% of ILR alerts are false positives, requiring significant time and effort for adjudication. The LINQII and LUX-Dx are remotely reprogrammable ILRs with dual-stage algorithms using artificial intelligence to reduce false positives, but their utility in routine clinical practice has not been studied.

The decay of messenger RNA with a premature termination codon by nonsense-mediated decay (NMD) is an important regulatory pathway for eukaryotes and an essential pathway in mammals. NMD is typically triggered by the ribosome terminating at a stop codon that is aberrantly distant from the poly-A tail. Here, we use a fluorescence screen to identify factors involved in NMD in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infects a broader range of mammalian species than previously predicted, binding a diversity of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) orthologs despite extensive sequence divergence. Within this sequence degeneracy, we identify a rare sequence combination capable of conferring SARS-CoV-2 resistance. We demonstrate that this sequence was likely unattainable during human evolution due to deleterious effects on ACE2 carboxypeptidase activity, which has vasodilatory and cardioprotective functions in vivo.

Public space, socio-environmental responsibility and citizenship: a case study on a Brazilian borough.

Some researchers point out the decline in contemporary cities of the use of public spaces, whether free or restricted access. In this sense, the present essay proposes a reflection on a "public sphere of organized presence", according to Habermas classification, as a rescue of the importance of this space for the exercise of citizenship and social-environmental responsibility. The reflection was based on the results obtained from a study in the district of Riacho Grande, São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil, in which the environmental perception of the participants of the meetings about the region was known by documentary analysis, direct observation and interviews with questionnaires.

Teaching specific motor skills for conducting to young music students.

This report describes a specific technique which enables young music students to acquire basic motor skills essential for conducting. 18 adolescents ranging in age from 10 to 17 yr. were trained for one school year (about 9 months) to improve their manual motor performance.

Quantitative structure-activity relationships of purines II: Prediction of activity against adenocarcinoma CA755 and toxicity in mice.

Quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) were derived for a number of 2,6-mono- and disubstituted purines. The derived equations relate the anticancer activity in murine Adenocarcinoma CA755 to the molar refractivity of substituents at position 2 and electron-withdrawing effects of substituents at position 6. A QSAR was also derived for the acute toxicity (LD50) of substituents at position 6.

Toxicity quantitative structure--activity relationships of colchicines.

A method for extracting LD50 values from antitumor test data is described. A quantitative structure--activity relationship (QSAR) for 7- and 10-substituted colchicines is presented. This correlation equation closely parallels that which had been derived earlier for potency.
