Anatomic Repair and Reconstruction of Radial Sagittal Band Ruptures.

Two cases of traumatic sagittal band rupture causing extensor tendon subluxation are reported. A case of subacute rupture is repaired and a new surgical technique for reconstruction of a chronic rupture is described. Extensor tendon subluxation at the metacarpophalangeal joint is a rare occurrence in patients not affected by rheumatoid arthritis.

Medial meniscal extrusion: a validation study comparing different methods of assessment.

Purpose: Longitudinal cohort studies of knee OA aetiology use MRI to assess meniscal extrusion within the same knee at sequential time points. A validated method of assessment is required to ensure that extrusion is measured at the same location within the knee at each time point. Absolute perpendicular extrusion from the tibial edge can be assessed using the reference standard of segmentation of the tibia and medial meniscus.

Three-dimensional reconstructed magnetic resonance scans: Accuracy in identifying and defining knee meniscal tears.

Aim: To determine whether three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction from conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is able to accurately detect a meniscal tear, and define the configuration.

Methods: Thirty-three patients' 3T MRI scan data were collected and sagittal uni-planar 3D reconstructions performed from the preoperative MRI. There were 24 meniscal tears in 24 patients, and nine controls.
