Wavelength calibration of birefringent interferometers for 2-D measurement of plasma flow.

Imaging birefringent interferometers are used to measure plasma flow in 2-D via the Doppler shift of a spectral emission line. Applications include plasma physics study in fusion energy experiments and in the Earth's upper atmosphere. We present a new, to the best of our knowledge, method for wavelength calibration that does not require measurement at the rest wavelength of the targeted spectral line, nor measurement using a tuneable laser source.

The Impact of Terroir on the Flavour of Single Malt Whisk(e)y New Make Spirit.

The impact of barley variety and its geographical growth location (environment) on the flavour of new make spirit was investigated to determine if "terroir" can be applied in the production of single malt whisk(e)y. New make spirits were produced at laboratory scale under controlled conditions from two different barley varieties (Olympus and Laureate) grown at two distinct environments (Athy, Co Kildare and Bunclody, Co Wexford) in Ireland over two consecutive seasons (2017 and 2018). The spirit samples were analysed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry olfactometry and descriptive sensory analysis.

"It's tough hanging-up a call": The relationships between calling and work hours, psychological detachment, sleep quality, and morning vigor.

It has been argued that when people believe that their work is a calling, it can often be experienced as an intense and consuming passion with significant personal meaning. While callings have been demonstrated to have several positive outcomes for individuals, less is known about the potential downsides for those who experience work in this way. This study develops a multiple-meditation model proposing that, while the intensity of a calling has a positive direct effect on work-related vigor, it motivates people to work longer hours, which both directly and indirectly via longer work hours, limits their psychological detachment from work in the evenings.

Exchange relationships: examining psychological contracts and perceived organizational support.

The authors surveyed 347 public sector employees on 4 measurement occasions to investigate the conceptual distinctiveness of the psychological contract and perceived organizational support (POS) and how they are associated over time. Results support the distinctiveness of the 2 concepts. In terms of their interrelationships over time, by drawing on psychological contract theory the authors found little support for a reciprocal relationship between POS and psychological contract fulfillment.
