Introduction: The need to understand the global burden of heart failure following the pandemic has arisen as a result of an increase in papers that support cardiac involvement in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Therefore, the current study aims to provide a more thorough explanation of the function and use of cardiac biomarkers in dead and alive COVID-19 patients.
Methods: All patients who were referred and admitted to Razi Hospital, Ahvaz, Iran, from March 2020 to March 2021 with a diagnosis of COVID-19 were included in this study.

While rhythm control strategies, particularly electrical cardioversion (EC), have gained traction in recent years, the precise impact of sinus rhythm (SR) restoration on cardiac reverse remodeling remains a subject of debate.
Methods: In this study, 23 AF patients underwent elective EC.
Objective: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, such as empagliflozin are antidiabetic drugs that have recently been reported to have cardio-protective action; however, their effect on cardiac structure and function in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) has not yet been determined. This study evaluates the efficacy of empagliflozin on left ventricular (LV) volumes in type 2 diabetes or prediabetes patients with HFrEF.
Methods: This randomised, double-blind, trial study was conducted on 104 patients with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes with HFrEF referred to Imam Khomeini and Golestan hospitals in Ahvaz, Iran.
Background: Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) have been established for primary and secondary prevention of fatal arrhythmias and effectively reduce the rate of sudden cardiac death (SCD). This study aims to evaluate the indications and effectiveness of ICD for primary and secondary prevention of SCD.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 229 patients (136 for primary and 93 for secondary prevention) with ICD implantations in Imam Khomeini Hospital, Ahvaz, between 2017 and 2020.

Therefore, early detection of cardiac involvement is important to improve the prognosis in these individuals.
Method: Two- and three-dimensional echocardiography was performed to evaluate left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular volumes and diameters, and global longitudinal strain (GLS) in 130 individuals with β-thalassemia using the speckle tracking method.
A 48-year-old male with a history of secundum type atrial septal defect (ASD) closure in childhood presented to our outpatient clinic complaining of palpitation for six months. Interestingly, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography exams showed an undiagnosed partially unroofed coronary sinus associated with persistent left superior vena cava (LSVC) and Cor triatriatum.
