Background: To identify the prognosis of Japanese patients with collecting duct carcinoma (CDC).
Methods: We used a hospital-based cancer registry data in Japan to extract CDC cases that were diagnosed in 2013, histologically confirmed, and determined the first course of treatment. We further investigated treatment modalities and estimated overall survival (OS) by the Kaplan-Meier method.
This study evaluated the impact of aspirin on the biochemical recurrence (BCR) rate following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in patients. A database search identified patients who underwent RARP for pT2-3N0M0 disease at any of 25 centers between 2011 and 2022, categorized into aspirin (n = 350) and control groups (n = 5857). Adjustment by 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) and Mahalanobis distance matching (MDM) created 350 matched pairs.

Methods: We utilized data from the Japanese Hospital-Based Cancer Registry (HBCR) to identify UTUC cases (n = 2376), consisting of UCP cases (n = 1196) and UCU cases (n = 1180), diagnosed with cTa-3N0M0 between 2012 and 2013. All cases were histologically confirmed and treated solely with radical surgery, excluding any chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Background: To investigate variations in diagnostic performance of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) according to surgical experience.
Methods: Data were extracted from patients having pT1 or lower primary tumors that underwent PDD-assisted transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) with orally 5-amibolevulinic acid at our institute. Surgical experience was categorized by urological experience (first-year and second-year) and PDD experience (<10, 10-19, and ≥20 cases).
Increasing evidence suggested the multifactorial nature of nocturia, but the true pathogenesis of this condition still remains to be elucidated. Contemporary clinical medications are mostly symptom based, aimed at either reducing nocturnal urine volume or targeting autonomic receptors within the bladder to facilitate urine storage. Case 1 : A 75-year-old man was emergently admitted to our hospital with a complaint of continuous bleeding from the ileal conduit. The conduit was constructed by a total pelvic resection for sigmoid colon cancer that invaded the urinary bladder 24 years ago. Swollen cutaneous mucosa was seen around the ileal conduit, but no obvious bleeding spot was observed.

Methods: SP/serum ratios of 20 TEs (lithium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, cobalt, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, rubidium, strontium, molybdenum, cesium, barium, and thallium) were calculated for healthy volunteers ( = 4) and those consulting for male subfertility ( = 245). Volunteer semen samples were collected by split ejaculation into early and subsequent fractions, and SP/serum ratio data were compared between fractions.
Background/aim: While post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (PC-RPLND) benefits patients with teratoma or viable germ cell tumors (GCT), it becomes overtreatment if necrosis is detected in PC-RPLND specimens. Serum microRNA-371a-3p correctly predicts residual viable GCT with 100% sensitivity; however, prediction of residual teratoma in PC-RPLND specimens using current modalities remains difficult. Therefore, we developed a machine learning model using CT imaging and clinical variables to predict the presence of residual teratoma in PC-RPLND specimens.

Methods: A Japanese hospital-based cancer registry database with a pivotal 10-year follow-up was used to identify and enroll patients, registered from 106 institutions, diagnosed with retroperitoneal sarcoma in 2008-2009. Treating hospitals were divided by hospital care volume; high-volume hospitals and low-volume hospitals were defined as ≥ 4 and < 4 cases/year, respectively.

Background: Older men often experience nocturnal urination difficulties, reflected by diurnal differences in maximum urine flow (Qmax). Since lower urinary tract symptoms and pathological comorbidities are frequent in older men, it remains unclear whether this diurnal variation is a physiological or pathological phenomenon. Our aim was to quantify the diurnal variability of Qmax in healthy young participants under varying daylight conditions in a stable environment to discern potential underlying causes of nocturnal urination difficulties.
