Objectives: Poor nutritional status following abdominal surgeries for esophageal and gastric cancers remains a major challenge in postoperative care. Our study aimed to investigate the efficacy of starting early oral feeding (EOF) in patients undergoing surgical resection of upper gastrointestinal malignancies.
Methods: A total of 180 consecutive patients with a diagnosis of esophageal or gastric malignancies undergoing elective surgical resection between January 2008 and February 2011 were enrolled in this prospective cohort study.
Objectives: Mood disorders are prevalent in hospitalized patients. However, risk factors for early diagnosis have not been studied exclusively in surgical patients. Our study aimed to investigate the prevalence and determinants of depression and anxiety symptoms in surgical patients.

In this study, factors associated with prescribing or not prescribing appropriate chemical thromboprophylaxis were assessed.
Materials And Methods: We enrolled high-risk patients for VTE (based on Caprini score) in the general surgery ward.
Background: Abdominal wound dehiscence (WD) is a postoperative complication with high mortality and morbidity rates. Retention sutures are often used in surgical take-back for dehiscence. The aim of this study was to assess the reduced rate of dehiscence in midline laparotomy using prophylactic retention sutures in high-risk patients.
