The Utah Electrode Array (UEA) and its different variants have become a gold standard in penetrating high channel count neural electrode for bi-directional neuroprostheses (simultaneous recording and stimulation). However, despite its usage in numerous applications, it has one major drawback of having only one active site per shaft, which is at the tip of the shaft. In this work, we are demonstrating a next-generation device, the Utah Multisite Electrode Array (UMEA), which is capable of having multiple sites around the shaft and also retaining the site at the tip.

In Vivo Cell Fate Tracing Provides No Evidence for Mesenchymal to Epithelial Transition in Adult Fallopian Tube and Uterus.

The mesenchymal to epithelial transition (MET) is thought to be involved in the maintenance, repair, and carcinogenesis of the fallopian tube (oviduct) and uterine epithelium. However, conclusive evidence for the conversion of mesenchymal cells to epithelial cells in these organs is lacking. Using embryonal cell lineage tracing with reporters driven by mesenchymal cell marker genes of the female reproductive tract (AMHR2, CSPG4, and PDGFRβ), we show that these reporters are also expressed by some oviductal and uterine epithelial cells at birth.

Pulmonary venous baffle obstruction following senning procedure - Role of transesophageal echocardiography.

We present a case of D-transposition of great arteries with atrial septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus electively posted for Senning's operation at 10 months of age. The patient developed signs of lung congestion immediately after termination of cardiopulmonary bypass. A stenosis in the pulmonary venous baffle was detected in transesophageal echocardiography showing a peak gradient of 10 mmHg and a mean gradient of 5 mmHg.

Methods: We analyzed the number of klotho-positive cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 10 male and 6 female patients on HD and 5 healthy male subjects using flow cytometry.

Mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are known to play important functions in stress responses of plants. We have functionally characterized a MAPK, MusaMPK5 from banana and demonstrated its function in cold tolerance response of banana plants. Expression of MusaMPK5 showed positive response to cold, methyl-jasmonate and salicylic acid treatment.
