Uveitis is one of the most common causes of vision loss and blindness worldwide. Local and/or systemic immunosuppression is often required to treat ocular inflammation in noninfectious uveitis. An understanding of safety and efficacy of these medications is required to individualize treatment to each patient to ensure compliance and achieve the best outcome.

Purpose: To describe an unexpected and atypical transvitreal and subretinal fibrinoid reaction following vitrectomy for non-clearing vitreous hemorrhage due to proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Observations: A 58-year-old woman with bilateral proliferative diabetic retinopathy and non-clearing vitreous hemorrhage underwent combined phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation and vitrectomy in the right eye. Two months later she underwent staged phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation followed by vitrectomy in the left eye.

Purpose: To review the clinical radiographic and histopathologic findings associated with orbital glial heterotopia.

Methods: A literature search in PubMed and Scopus was performed to include all articles published in English between 1980 and January 1, 2019. A case series including 29 case reports of 29 patients, as well as the authors' 2 cases, were considered in the literature review.

A 12-year-old boy presented with a total rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and a giant retinal tear in the right eye. Clinical examination, optical coherence tomography, and fundus images showed an optically empty vitreous, lattice degeneration, and retinoschisis of the macula. Genetic testing revealed mutations in the COL2A1 and RS1 genes, confirming a dual diagnosis of Stickler syndrome and X-linked retinoschisis, respectively.
