Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) account for a large proportion of hospital-acquired infections. Determining optimal treatment of VRE urinary tract infections (UTIs) is challenging. Background: A subset of patients with aggressive osteosarcomas responds poorly to conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy. Recent evidence from studies involving the liver, skin, stomach, and colon suggests that carcinogenesis is associated with inflammation. Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) has diverse roles in cancer and inflammation.
