Unlabelled: Patients are often switched between generic formulations of the same drug, but in some cases generic interchangeability is questioned. For generic drugs to be approved, bioequivalence with the innovator drug should be demonstrated, but evidence of bioequivalence is not required in the intended patient population or relative to other approved generics.
Aim: We aim to identify pathophysiological pharmacokinetic subpopulations for whom there is a difference in comparative bioavailability compared to a healthy population.
Access to medicinal cannabis is a timely and important issue in cancer care. Recent legislative changes in Australia have increased access to medicinal cannabis, but the views of people with cancer on this topic are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to explore the prevalence of the use of and attitudes towards medicinal cannabis among people with cancer.

In this article, we describe why we are of the opinion that the current regulatory approach to the evaluation of generic drugs based on average bioequivalence is sufficient to expect therapeutic equivalence in the clinical setting. This has often been debated, specifically as adverse drug reactions related to generic drug switches are regularly reported.

Hybrid carbon-based hierarchical nanostructures are particularly promising for electrochemical energy storage since they combine benefits of nanosize effects, enhanced electrical conductivity and integrity of bulk materials. We show that endohedral multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNT) encapsulating high-capacity (here: conversion and alloying) electrode materials have a high potential for use in anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIB).

Over the past decade, once-daily dosing regimens have been proved to be less nephrotoxic and were therefore adopted worldwide for most indications requiring treatment with an aminoglycoside. In this study, the effect of the time of administration on the pharmacokinetics of once-daily tobramycin in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) experiencing a pulmonary exacerbation was investigated.

Representativeness of the participating population is a crucial but often an unknown factor in population-based cohort studies such as the Maastricht Study. We therefore aimed to assess the representativeness of the study population by comparing drug utilization of the participants of the Maastricht Study with the general population of the Netherlands.

Apart from the mechanical design of such hands, embedding sensors needed for closed-loop control of grasping tasks remains a hard problem due to limited space and required high level of integration of different components. In this paper we present a scalable design model of artificial fingers, which combines mechanical design and embedded electronics with a sophisticated multi-modal sensor system consisting of sensors for sensing normal and shear force, distance, acceleration, temperature, and joint angles.

The aim of this study was to assess the commutability of different matrices for the material used in an EQAS for amitriptyline and nortriptyline.
Methods: Proficiency testing material (PTM) and patient samples containing amitriptyline and nortriptyline were prepared, collected, pooled, and distributed to participating laboratories for analysis.

Introduction And Objective: In the Netherlands, preparing and distributing pharmacies (PDPs) are taking over a large proportion of pharmacy preparations. PDPs prepare and distribute medicinal products to dispensing pharmacies. Many pharmacies have stopped pharmacy preparation.

PO is assumed to induce intestinal smooth muscle relaxation and desensitization of nociceptive nerve afferents. To increase colonic PO concentration, an ileocolonic release peppermint oil (IC-PO) capsule has been developed.

The Resolution, which was adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in 2011, aims at harmonising quality and safety standards for pharmacy preparation of medicinal products in Europe.
Two Pillars Of Eu Regulation And The Exceptions To Them: The system of regulation of medicinal products is built upon two pillars: the marketing authorisation of the medicinal product and the licence for manufacturing and wholesale.
Introduction And Objective: The regulation of pharmacy preparations, especially for standards for quality assurance and safety, is not harmonised across Europe and falls under the national competencies of individual states. There are concerns about quality control and safety for the medicinal products made in pharmacies, which is widespread in European countries. There are, however, good reasons to continue this practice, which is able to tailor preparations to the specific needs of a particular patient or patient group and to provide a supplementary source of supply when an industrially manufactured product, which is authorised for marketing is not available or when there are temporary shortages of licensed medicines.

Insulin use is one of the factors linked to this increased fracture risk. However, direct negative effects of insulin on bone quality are not expected since insulin is thought to be anabolic to bone.

This article describes the state of pharmacy preparation in preparing and distributing pharmacies (PDPs) in the Netherlands. The Medicines Act in the Netherlands is based on the European Union Directive 2001/83/EC, which forbids a PDP from preparing and distributing unlicensed medicinal products to dispensing pharmacies.

Continuous venovenous haemofiltration (CVVH) rapidly reduced plasma cefuroxime concentrations and improved neurological manifestations within the next few hours. Retrospective pharmacokinetic assessment showed a total cefuroxime clearance of 166 ml/min during the CVVH.

Pubmed and Embase were searched for original articles investigating use of incretin agents, and fracture risk up to December 2015. Adjusted results were extracted and pooled by use of generic inverse variance methods, assuming a random-effects model.

The aim of this study was to assess the commutability of different matrices for the material used in an EQAS for tobramycin.
Methods: Proficiency testing material (PTM) and patient samples containing tobramycin were prepared, collected, pooled, and distributed to participating laboratories for analysis.
In many cases, parenteral medicines with a marketing authorisation cannot be administered directly to patients, that is, they are not presented in ready-to-administer form. Before administration to patients, these medicines have to be reconstituted. Reconstitution has a special position; it can neither be seen as industrial manufacture nor as 'regular' pharmacy preparation.

Aim: To investigate the association between the use of incretin agents and the risk of pancreatic cancer.
Methods: A retrospective population-based cohort study, using data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink, 2007-2012, was conducted.
