Purpose: Endometrial cancer is characterized as histopathological, molecular, genetic, biological, and very diverse group of malignancies. Due to the need to precisely define the indications for adjuvant treatment in recent years, there has been a division made according to risk groups based on prognostic factors, which identify patients at risk for disease relapse, who may benefit from adjuvant therapy. The aim of this research was to examine the clinical and morphological factors that influence disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with FIGO IA stage endometrial cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor and one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in women throughout the world. This study is a parallel, randomized, double-blind, controlled, 12-week supplementation trial, investigating the anti-inflammatory effects of dietary intake of fish oil and evening primrose oil (EPO), in patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy. The primary outcomes were changes in the nutritional status and inflammatory cytokines of patients during the study.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to establish guidelines for adjuvant radiotherapy in endometrial cancer patients by classifying them into risk groups based on clinical and pathological factors.
  • During a 5-year retrospective analysis involving 80 patients, the findings indicated an 80% 5-year survival rate and highlighted that high-risk patients faced the shortest survival.
  • The results suggest that while adjuvant radiotherapy can improve survival and limit cancer recurrence, it also comes with manageable toxicity, allowing for tailored treatment plans to maintain patient quality of life.

Even though surgery is the primary treatment of operable breast cancer, it has been known for decades that the administration of postoperative adjuvant or preoperative neoadjuvant therapy is extremely important. Indications for neodjuvant therapy administration have been expanded over the years, and nowadays this kind of treatment represents an inevitable option in early breast cancer treatment. The NeoPULSE project, which gathered a group of experts in the field of breast cancer from five Serbian university centres, was formed with the aim to define optimal breast cancer diagnosis, indications for neoadjuvant therapy, therapeutic combinations in relation to molecular/biological parameters of breast cancer, as well as the treatment after neoadjuvant therapy.

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are the key enzymes responsible for the joint destruction. Their activity is regulated by the level of proinflammatory cytokines. The aim of this study was to examine the impact of TNF-α G-308A polymorphism on MMP-9 levels in blood plasma (BP) and synovial fluid (SF) of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their role in progression of joint destruction.

Introduction: Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma is a rare, prognostically bad tumor category. Primary, it can be localized in every organ, even in the ovary, where, due to its clinical specificities, it represents a challenge in diagnosis, as well as in therapy. Small cell ovarian carcinoma (SCOC) is biologically very aggressive malignant tumor of unknown histogenesis.

Introduction: Intima-media thickness (IMT) of the carotid artery is a widely accepted parameter for detection and quantification of atherosclerosis. The aim of the study was the evaluation of the impact of changes of IMT on the mortality of patients on hemodialysis.

Methods: The study was organized as a prospective and observational one.

Introduction: In spite of the growing number of reports on the study of anti-nucleosome and anti-C1q antibodies, there are still controversies on their significance as disease activity markers in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and their use in everyday clinical practice.

Objective: Our aim was to assess the presence of anti-dsDNA, anti-nucleosome and anti-C1q antibodies in SLE patients, as well as to establish their sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, and their correlation with SLE and lupus nephritis clinical activity.

Methods: The study enrolled 85 patients aged 45.

Background: Male breast cancer is rare and represents less than 1% of all breast cancers. Considering the fact that the male breast most often does not consist of lobules and acini, lobular carcinoma of the male breast is exceptionally rare.

Case Report: In this paper we present a unique case of alveolar variant of lobular male breast cancer in a 56-year-old patient.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy, toxicity and survival of cisplatin monotherapy with concurrent radiotherapy ver-sus combination of cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) with concurrent external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in patients with locoregionally advanced cervical carcinoma FIGO stages IIB-IV.

Methods: 134 patients with locoregionally advanced, histologically confirmed carcinoma of the uterine cervix were analysed. The first group of patients (n=70; 52.

Aim: To establish the role of co-overexpression of bcl-2 and cerbB- 2/neu protooncogenes in uterine cervix carcinogenesis, we examined 138 tissue samples of low grade cervical squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL), high grade SIL, cervical carcinoma in situ and cervical invasive carcinoma, stage IA-IIA (study group) and 36 samples without SIL or malignancy (control group).

Methods: The expression of bcl-2 and c-erbB-2/neu was detected immunohistochemically using a monoclonal antibody. Fisher's exact test (p less than 0.

Introduction: Anti-citrullinated peptides antibodies (ACPA) are present in 80% of sera of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with high specificity for diagnosis and prediction for the development of early erosive arthritis. A few studies have reported a low frequency ACPA in systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients with the presence of arthritis.

Objective: The aim of our study was to determine the frequency of ACPA in systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients, their correlation with clinical manifestations and radiographic features.

Introduction: Ankylosing spondilitis (AS) is a disease from a group of seronegative spondyloarthropathies with the prevalence of 0.1% affecting mainly young males, which also gives sociomedical significance to the disease. Among all inflammatory arthropathies, AS is the most suitable for balneotherapy.

Introduction: It has been well known that balneophysical therapy has a therapeutic effect on clinical and biological parameters of disease activity in the patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Objective: To determine the influence of balneophysical therapy on functional capacity, activity and quality of life of the patients with RA primarily treated with some of disease modifying antirheumatic drugs.

Methods: The study enrolled 73 patients with RA treated with some of disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (Methotrexate in 85% of patients).

Objective: To compare the performance of different definitions of remission in a large multinational cross-sectional cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Methods: The Questionnaires in Standard Monitoring of Patients with RA (QUEST-RA) database, which (as of January 2008) included 5,848 patients receiving usual care at 67 sites in 24 countries, was used for this study. Patients were clinically assessed by rheumatologists and completed a 4-page self-report questionnaire.
