Background: Despite benefits of evidence-based practice (EBP), barriers exist that prevent translation of evidence to point of care.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine types of EBP resources used by nurses, and correlate EBP resource use with nurse's self-efficacy.
Method: A descriptive correlational design was used.

However, in society individuals mix in groups of varying sizes, at varying times, allowing one or more infectives to be in close contact with one or more susceptible individuals at a given point in time. In this paper we study the effect of mixing groups beyond pairs on the transmission of an infectious disease in an SIR (susceptible [Formula: see text] infective [Formula: see text] recovered) model, both through a branching process approximation for the initial stages of an epidemic with few initial infectives and a functional central limit theorem for the trajectories of the numbers of infectives and susceptibles over time for epidemics with many initial infectives.

The instrument's scientific objective was to (1) measure the plasma density in low Earth orbit, (2) measure the plasma temperature in low Earth orbit, and (3) quantify the spacecraft potential with respect to the ambient plasma potential in the ionosphere. iMESA sampled the ionosphere every 10 s by measuring the ion current density through the ESA as a result of the motion of the spacecraft through the plasma.

A compact electrostatic energy bandpass filter based on a laminated analyzer design has been developed to measure charged particle fluxes at energies ranging from 0 to 5 keV. The sensor head has been successfully tested against a low energy magnetically filtered plasma source and an ion beam source capable of producing energetic ions in the range of 100-1250 eV. Additionally, the instrument has demonstrated the ability to accurately measure negative spacecraft frame charging using a low Earth orbit plasma simulator.

The methodology derived is applicable to, and demonstrated on, both SIR and SIS epidemics and allows for population as well as epidemic dynamics. The approach taken is to consider the epidemic process as a multitype process by identifying and classifying the different types of infectious units along with the infections from, and the transitions between, infectious units.

GYHSAC conducts an annual Young Person's Health Check (YPC) for people aged 15-25 years based on the Medical Benefits Schedule Item 715. However, the YPC is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the community, and in 2016, in response to concerns about psychological risk among Indigenous youth, GYHSAC teamed up with James Cook University to trial an adapted PHQ-9 depression screening tool (aPHQ-9) as part of the YPC.

Patients with this mutation respond well to third-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors, but obtaining a tissue biopsy to confirm the mutation poses risks and is often not feasible. Liquid biopsies using circulating free tumor DNA (cfDNA) have emerged as a noninvasive option to detect the mutation; however, sensitivity is low as many patients have too few detectable copies in circulation.

In this paper we review recent Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC) methods for the analysis of such data by fitting to them stochastic epidemic models without having to calculate the likelihood of the observed data. We consider both non-temporal and temporal-data and illustrate the methods with a number of examples featuring different models and datasets.

Expressions for the basic reproduction number, R₀, and the probability of extinction of the epidemic are derived. View Article and Find Full Text PDFBacterial assemblages from subsurface (100 m depth), meso- (200-1000 m depth) and bathy-pelagic (below 1000 m depth) zones at 10 stations along a North Atlantic Ocean transect from 60°N to 5°S were characterized using massively parallel pyrotag sequencing of the V6 region of the 16S rRNA gene (V6 pyrotags). In a dataset of more than 830,000 pyrotags, we identified 10,780 OTUs of which 52% were singletons. The singletons accounted for less than 2% of the OTU abundance, whereas the 100 and 1000 most abundant OTUs represented 80% and 96% respectively of all recovered OTUs.
