Combined viral and photodynamic therapy for oncological diseases has great potential to treat aggressive tumors such as glioblastomas. A conjugate of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) with protoporphyrin IX was prepared, and its oncolytic effects were studied and compared to the effects of the individual components. Monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) demonstrate plenty of unique properties due to the band structure. Symmetry breaking brings second-order susceptibility to meaningful values resulting in the enhancement of corresponding nonlinear effects. The synthesis of barium and strontium stannates in the process of decomposition of hydrothermally obtained precursors has been investigated. It was found that endothermic weight loss during the synthesis of barium stannate occurs in two stages, whereas during the synthesis of strontium stannate it occurs in one stage. From the summary of the results of thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and Mössbauer spectroscopy, the composition and local structure of X-ray amorphous phases are proposed.

Co(II) complexes of 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (CYCLEN) or 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (CYCLAM) with 2-hydroxypropyl or carbamoylmethyl (amide) pendants are studied with the goal of developing paramagnetic chemical exchange saturation transfer (paraCEST) agents. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies show that two of the coordination cations with hexadentate ligands, [Co(DHP)] and [Co(BABC)], form six-coordinate complexes; whereas two CYCLEN-based complexes with potentially octadentate ligands, [Co(THP)] and [Co(HPAC)], are seven-coordinate with only three of the four pendant groups bound to the metal center. H NMR spectra of these complexes suggest that the six-coordinate complexes are present as a single isomer in aqueous solution.

Infective Endocarditis (IE) patients are known to have a variety of complications with one of the rarest, but serious being cerebral mycotic aneurysm, which can result in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Using the National In-Patient Sample database, we sought to determine the rate of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and outcomes in IE- patients with and without SAH. In this work we tested two reagent kits developed by us for detecting SARS-CoV-2 RNA using a fragment of the ORF1ab gene in digital PCR and real-time PCR formats. Data were obtained on the detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus RNA in nasopharyngeal swabs of patients with COVID-19 and asymptomatic carriers. The developed reagent kits provided 100% sensitivity and a detection limit of 103 GE / ml for qPCR, and at least 200 copies / ml of viral RNA when performing digital PCR.
