Piperidine derivatives are known to exhibit analgesic activities and are likely to possess the ability to block the effects of prostaglandins through inhibition of downstream signaling pathways. The present study investigated the activity of five derivatives (PD2-6) of 4-(4'-bromophenyl)-4-piperidinol (PD1), against pain and platelet aggregation mediated by the release of prostaglandins and thromboxane A2, respectively. The results showed that compound PD1 and its two phenacyl derivatives PD3 and PD5 exhibited a highly significant analgesic effect (p < 0.

Background: Land plants have evolved several measures to maintain their life against abiotic stresses. The accumulation of proline is the most generalized response of plants under drought, heat or salt stress conditions. It is known as an osmoprotectant which also acts as an instant source of energy during drought recovery process.

Bioassay-guided isolation studies on the extracts of yellow flowers of Tagetes patula L. against the Heterodera zeae were carried out to identify phytochemicals lethal to this economically important cyst nematode. In vitro investigation of a polar extract and fractions showing activity led to the isolation of phenolic compounds (flavonoids and phenolic acids).

NMR spectra of free 2,6-bis(N-arylimino)pyridine (PDI) ligands displaying different substituents at the ortho and ortho' positions of the two N-aryl rings indicate that they can exist in syn (meso) and anti (chiral) configurations. These interconvert in solution at room temperature, via rotation of the aryl group. The corresponding paramagnetic FeX(2)(PDI) complexes exhibit the same kind of isomerism, a property that is thought to be important for their activity as alpha-olefin polymerization catalysts.
