Background: Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness that causes major functional impairments, raises the risk of disability, and reduces life expectancy. It affects around 7 in 1000 people b/w the age of 15 and 35 years. Schizophrenia poses a great challenge not only for the patient but also for the people and the society around the patient.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) is the most common type of valvular heart disease, affecting over 2% of the world population, and the gold-standard treatment is surgical mitral valve repair/replacement. Compared to open-heart surgeries, minimally invasive surgeries (MIS) using transcatheter approaches have become popular because of their notable benefits such as less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery time. However, commercially available catheters are manually actuated, causing over-exposure of clinical staff to radiation and increased risk of human error during medical interventions.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) is one of the most common valvular abnormalities, and the gold-standard for treatment is surgical mitral valve repair/replacement. Most patients with severe MR are over the age of 75, which makes open-heart surgery challenging. Thus, minimally invasive surgeries using transcatheter approaches are gaining popularity.

Article Synopsis
  • Cervical cancer (Cacx) and endometrial cancer (Ec) are significant global health concerns, with the study focusing on how HPV and CT infections impact these cancers in women.
  • The research involved 300 tissue biopsy samples to test for HPV and CT DNA using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), revealing a 72% HPV positivity in cervical patients and a 5% positivity in endometrial patients.
  • This study is notable as it's the first of its kind in India to investigate the prevalence of HPV and CT in both endometrial cases and control groups, providing valuable data on the link between these infections and cancer risk.

1D-molybdenum disulfide (MoS) nanoscrolls displayed enhanced electrochemical properties compared to 2D-MoS nanosheet counterparts. Rolling of nanosheets is the main fabrication route to nanoscrolls. However, owing to the conflict between chemical stability and multiple bending, the morphology transition from nanosheets to nanoscrolls is quite challenging.

Minimally-invasive surgeries using transcatheter approaches and sophisticated imaging modalities are gaining popularity to treat mitral regurgitation (MR). This paper proposes the next generation of a robotic catheter to deliver an implant onto the mitral valve (MV) through a transseptal approach. The proposed robot has an outer diameter (OD) of 5.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) is a condition caused by a deformity in the mitral valve leading to the backflow of blood into the left atrium. MR can be treated through a minimally invasive procedure and our lab is currently developing a robot that could potentially be used to treat MR. The robot would carry a clip that latches onto the valve's leaflets and closes them to minimize leakage.

High-grade endometrial carcinomas are a heterogeneous group of clinically aggressive tumours. They include FIGO grade 3 endometrioid adenocarcinoma, uterine papillary serous carcinoma (UPSC), clear cell carcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma and carcinosarcomas or malignant mixed Mullerian tumour (MMMT). The aim of this study is to look at clinicopathological features and survival outcomes of high-grade endometrial cancers of the uterus in our centre.

Nivolumab is a fully humanized monoclonal antibody to PD-1, which has shown improved overall and progression-free survival. Across studies of nivolumab, grade 3 or 4 rash has been noted in <1% of patients. We present a case report of patient with metastatic melanoma treated with nivolumab through expanded access program, who developed toxic epidermal necrolysis.

An examination of patients with physical disorders requiring immediate treatment or investigation was undertaken in the Psychiatric Emergency Service of the Royal Ottawa Hospital and found to comprise 7% of the patient population, or one visit per day. Those with physical problems differed from the rest of the emergency patients in that a greater number were over age 60 and were diagnosed as alcoholic or chronic organic brain syndrome. Socio-demographic characteristics were examined as well.

When seeds and vegetative tissues are irradiated, a competition occurs in meristematic tissues between lethally and sublethally affected cells on one hand and unaffected cells on the other hand to the advantage of the latter. This phenomenon was first recognized by FREISLEBEN and LEIN (1943) and termed intrasomatic selection by KAPLAN (1951) and diplontic selection by GAUL (1957). The work done on the nature of this phenomenon in seed-propagated plants is summarized along with suggested methods to reduce its intensity.
