Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1-RAs) are a novel class of medications promising for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity-related conditions such as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This comprehensive literature review examines available research on these medications, focusing on their mechanisms of action, clinical effectiveness, safety profiles, and socioeconomic implications.
