Background: Acinetobacter spp. are a potential life-threatening cause of severe meningitis noted as a nosocomial infection after neurosurgical procedures in patients admitted to neurosurgical ICUs. Community-acquired Acinetobacter meningitis is extremely rare, and only a few cases have been reported in the literature.
