Uterine perforation is a rare but potentially serious complication associated with their use. We examined all reported cases of elective surgical removal of peritoneally migrated IUCDs, to compare laparoscopic and open approaches, and to identify beneficial surgical techniques.

Introduction: Riedel's thyroiditis is a rare thyroid disease characterized by dense fibrous tissues that replace the thyroid gland and invade the adjacent structures that can mimic thyroid malignancy. We discuss the presentation, investigation and management of this very rare condition.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a 59-year-old African-Caribbean man who presented with a rapidly growing hard neck mass, a hoarse voice, dysphagia and breathing difficulty that clinically suggested thyroid malignancy.

We report a rare case of postoperative paraplegia in a patient with carcinoma of the oesophagus following oesophagectomy. Neurological deficit was characterised by loss of sensation from the spinal level T2 down to T6, together with flaccid paraparesis of both lower extremities. This was initially thought to be secondary to an epidural haematoma and a magnetic resonance scan was arranged.
