The present study was designed to improve its in vitro and in vivo hepatoprotection and increase its oral bioavailability against alcohol intoxication by formulating it in four different liposomal formulations namely conventional, dicetyl phosphate, stearyl amine and PEGylated liposomes.
Method: The liposomes were prepared using phosphatidylcholine, cholesterol, and silymarin in addition to dicetyl phosphate, stearyl amine and DSPE mPEG 2000 by film hydration method with 5% sucrose as a cryo-protectant.
Background: Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral disease, poses a significant global public health risk. In tropical countries such as India where periodic dengue outbreaks can be correlated to the high prevalence of the mosquito vector, circulation of all four dengue viruses (DENVs) and the high population density, a drug for dengue is being increasingly recognized as an unmet public health need.
Methodology/principal Findings: Using the knowledge of traditional Indian medicine, Ayurveda, we developed a systematic bioassay-guided screening approach to explore the indigenous herbal bio-resource to identify plants with pan-DENV inhibitory activity.
Background: Water stress limits plant survival and production in many parts of the world. Identification of genes and alleles responding to water stress conditions is important in breeding plants better adapted to drought.
