Romosozumab-aqqg in the Treatment of Osteoporosis in a Patient With Hypophosphatasia.

Hypophosphatasia is a rare, inherited condition that causes osteomalacia and recurrent fractures. Therapeutic options for osteoporosis in patients with hypophosphatasia are limited because of concerns for a greater likelihood of atypical femoral fractures with antiresorptive agents. We report here the case of a patient with hypophosphatasia and osteoporosis who was treated with romosozumab-aqqg (Romo).

Evaluation of Adherence to Guideline-Based Bone Mineral Density Screening in Veterans with HIV.

People with HIV (PWH) have a higher prevalence of bone mineral density (BMD) loss compared to people without HIV. The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) recommends BMD screening through dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in PWH starting at age 50. We aimed to evaluate adherence to this recommendation in a population of Veterans with HIV (VWH).

Background: Women have blamed epidurals for their post-partum back pain for decades. Survey-based studies have shown similar incidence of chronic back pain between women who delivered with epidurals compared to those who did not. However, epidural insertion site pain has yet to be evaluated by a quantitative measure: pressure pain threshold (PPT).
