Optimizing behavioral strategy requires belief updating based on new evidence, a process that engages higher cognition. In schizophrenia, aberrant belief dynamics may lead to psychosis, but the mechanisms underlying this process are unknown, in part, due to lack of appropriate animal models and behavior readouts. Here, we address this challenge by taking two synergistic approaches.

Variation of connectivity across exemplar sensory and associative thalamocortical loops in the mouse.

The thalamus engages in sensation, action, and cognition, but the structure underlying these functions is poorly understood. Thalamic innervation of associative cortex targets several interneuron types, modulating dynamics and influencing plasticity. Is this structure-function relationship distinct from that of sensory thalamocortical systems? Here, we systematically compared function and structure across a sensory and an associative thalamocortical loop in the mouse.

Elimination of erythromycin in milk after intramammary administration in cows with specific mastitis: relation to dose, milking frequency and udder health.

Elimination of erythromycin in milk following intramammary therapy of specific mastitis in cows was studied. Five cows received therapy in one quarter (G1), and eight in two quarters with five milked twice (G2) and three thrice a day (G3). Dose infused was 300 mg/quarter 12 h × 5 times.

Mechanisms for catalytic CVD growth of multiwalled carbon nanotubes.

Carbon nanotubes possess unique properties that make them potentially ideal materials for various technological applications. However, a basic growth mechanism explaining the way metallic atoms interact with carbon to nucleate, grow and heal CNTs still needs to be understood. In this review paper we describe the mechanisms of catalytic chemical vapor deposition growth of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and carbon nanofibers, the role of various parameters that govern their growth kinetics and the knowledge added to singlewalled nanotube growth.
